I’ve been lurking for a while but everyone seems so nice that I figured I’d signup and become part of the community 🙂
I’m getting married in August, but before that, I’m a bridesmaid in a good friend’s wedding. My friend’s shower is coming up in a couple weeks and I’m not sure what to get her. Unfortunately I’m a grad student on a tight budget AND I’m traveling across the country for the shower = I don’t have a lot to spend on a gift – I’m thinking less than $40 (but ideally even less). I really want to get her something thoughtful, but I’m not sure what. (As a side note, all the BMs are going to put together a nice scrapbook-type-thing, which we’ll give to the bride closer to her wedding. I’m specifically interested in a gift that she can open at her shower.) Any ideas??
If I can’t think of anything more sentimental, is it okay to get her something off her registry? I know it depends on the bride (and my friend is really laid back, so I know she won’t be offended), but is getting something off the registry when you’re a Bridesmaid or Best Man too impersonal?
Thanks SO much in advance!! I really appreciate it 🙂

How about a personalized hanger with her new name “Mrs. _____” You can get them on etsy for a nice price and it’s something she could defitnitely open before the wedding and use it on her big day.
I think it’s incredibly thoughtful and personalized & I know I would LOVE it…. considering I’m fixing to order one for myself lol
here’s the listing address and the pic

I think something small off of her registry would be great! I can’t imagine she’d want you to spend a ton of money on her since you’re traveling just to be there for her :).

One idea that I have been given, then copied numerous times, was a special place setting of dishes to be used when someone needs to be honored, or is going through a rough time, or just to say that you are special and loved .Both husband and wife can use it for the other person and later for children.

I agree with @runsyellowlites: that a personal hanger is a wonderful gift and it is inexpensive.

@julies1949 idk if I would get that for someone (primarily b/c idk if they would “get” the significance of it) but I definitely want to impliment something like that in my family. I think it’s great!

I think @runsyellowlites: had a great idea; I’d love to get this (whether as a gift or just for myself!) for the big day.

i like the hanger idea too!! also, a really inexpensive thing that might come in handy is roll up flats that she could possibly change into if her feet her at the end of the night. i actually bought some for my BMs, they’re inexpensive and she can totally use it again after the wedding. there’s a few brands out there that are good, but PM me if you wanna know what i used =]

Wow, thanks SO much for the great ideas.
amnystik: LOVE the hanger idea! It’s not something my friend would think to get herself, so it would be a nice, personal surprise. Plus, even with shipping, it’s within my budget 🙂
@julies1949: The plate idea is also really cute. I’m not sure that it quite fits for my friend, but I’d LOVE to do something like for my family once we have kiddos
Thanks again! I really appreciate it 🙂
