So, Mr. Fish is the oldest sibling by quite a few years. His little sister is turning 13, and I have no idea what 13 year old girls like now. When I was 13, I would have loved a victorias secret gift card and some nice makeup. Which I think is actually what I got. My mom believed in good bras and good makeup. So when I was old enough to start wearing it she bought me some mascara and foundation and a little blush thing and taught me how to use it properly. I didnt wear a lot of makeup, and still dont. But I think its important to have nice make up and VS has nice bras, and not all of them are sexy. They have very 13 year old appropriate stuff. MiLsaid that the kids all like the movie frozen, but that seems a little too kiddy for a 13 year old. I cant imagine shed want Frozen themed dress up clothes from the disney store!! My mom suggested some clothes from Abercrombie or Hollister or one of those teenagery stores. I thought a cute purse and a gift card. But I dont know. What the heck do 13 year old girls like now?! Lol! Help me out!

@ChellFish22: Does she like music?In the uk here (think they are doing great in the US too) ‘One Direction’ is the big hooha. Or maybe something peronalized,my 14 year old loves things like that and recently i got a vinyl wall art done in her name. If i want something personalised i always head off to ebay,lots of great ideas there

My grandpa’s friends with my brother on Facebook and he posts all of the stereotypical old people stuff.
For example, my brother will mention a joke, and he thinks it’s serious and will call our mom to talk about the kinds of things he says. One of his friends mentioned a peen and so grandpa comments “Hi grandson! Hope you are doing well! We miss you! It is raining here. Are you getting rain? What is a peen? Please call us some time!!”

@stronger-now1: I dont know if she like them, I dont even know who that is (Geez, I feel old). Haha! But a personalized gift would be a good idea…

@mademoisellesacha: I know some of the VS is pretty sexy. But they do have plain cotton bras and panties in cute colors. I matured really early and had DDs by high school, so I couldnt shop at a lot of teeny bopper stores for bras because they just didnt fit, and I needed the support! Lol. But that might not be worth risking sending a gift card to. AE may be a better way to go. Lol.
I totally asked Darling Husband for PINK sweats for Christmas last year. I love their stuff!
I just hate to send cash as a gift. I know thats weird, but to me it seems like the easy way out and likr you didnt really care enough to put thought into a gift. Sometimes cash is great, but I absolutely love buying presents for people! Lol

@ChellFish22: That’s what I’m also thinking, I don’t think I can go wrong! WooT!
@ddstobe2015: I knooow, I like the milgrain, too! But I could milgrain ’em all!
@MrsSkeletonKey: That’s exactly where I found these! You’re good! I’ll take one of everything they have, please. I could put milgrain on # 3. ;-P
Thanks for the input! Y’all are giving me confidence to finally pick a ring!

@AnaA: Love this gif! Completely agree.
I have to say I’m a little surprised there hasn’t been any hate yet… I guess everyone’s feeling this way, even if they won’t say so 😉

@Bean8109: Advantage Bridal has them
The problem is that women fall in love with something they see posted on a blog or on Pinterest. By the time it makes it to the blogs, it could be old and therefore no surprise it’s out of stock.

@ChellFish22: My niece is 12 and loves getting a magazine subscription. Its not often that kids this age get mail and she really looks forward to getting magazines we’ve gifted her. She also loves her Kindle!

I’m having a wedding on a Sunday, with no holiday after. My reason for that is that a lot of our guests who are coming are out of towners, and even if we had a Saturday wedding they would likely still have to travel in on the Friday because of the length of the drive, so either way they miss a day of work. We’re also hoping it might cause the shin dig to end a little bit more toward midnight, and we won’t be upset if at the end of the night it’s just the immediate families, the bridal party and some close friends left on the dance floor 🙂
I’m saving about 1500$ on my venue cost by doing that, and they’re also throwing in a 6 bedroom house that can sleep 12 people in it with a fully stocked kitchen that’s valued at 500$ a night that’s on property. Since a lot of my FI’s close friends live several hours away, we’re going to be offering it to them and some of our younger guests who will get along well with them so they can feel free to drink and not have to drive home 🙂 So I guess it’s an added perk and a savings of 2000$.
Honestly, if you send out your save the dates with enough time to spare, I’m sure people will consider your wedding in any long weekend plans they might have!

I definitely think it depends on the kid! I camp counseled for 13-13 year olds last year, and some of the girls would have DIED for One Direction stuff, and others would have been horrified. Same thing with specific clothing brands/stores. Can you ask Mother-In-Law what clothing stores she likes? The Frozen thing seems a little young to me, but if her mom said she likes it… maybe Demi Lovato tickets or something? I have no idea how much that would cost, so maybe not, haha.

@howsweetitis: I am thinking maybe like a charm bracelet that we can add to and a purse, maybe a little bit of money? I dont think she is in to one direction. They are kind of sheltered and very involved in church activities and I dont even think they have cable. Lol. So im not sure a concert or music stuff would be her thing. But we are going to probably get his younger sister something from Frozen (shes 8 so its more appropriate). Lol. I love shopping in the disney store, so that will be fun.

What is your budget for the gift?
There are some beautiful and not overly expensive pieces of jewellery you could aim for, particularly if you had it made for her, with some kind of stone or colour that meant something special for the two of you?
Or depending what she’s into, have you checked out the t-shirt website Threadless.com? There are some very cool, original t-shirts there which are done in limited edition (I think they do like 500 of them per design) which could be quite lovely and not inappropriate.
I would steer away from anything that’s too trendy i.e. movie or pop culture stuff, if you’re hoping for something meaningful in the longrun. And I guess the trouble with makeup is it gets used up and is gone (although many girls would be thrilled with that as a gift!!)
But let me know the budget and I might have better ideas for you!
