My sister just had a baby — mom, dad, and baby all doing well! I’m trying to come up with an idea for a gift to send her, but I’m coming up blank. She lives across the country from me, so it has to be shipped, and she got literally everything you could think of for the baby at her shower.

You can buy the baby a gift of a stock like Disney, Tiffany, Dreamworks, Mattel etc.
Or start a library for the baby with a gift of books.

New parents need food. Since you’re not local, my suggestion is to arrange for a few meals to be delivered to them when they get home from the hospital. If you don’t want to actually order the food, you can always get some restaurant gift cards. Another option is a gift certificate for a local maid service. However, that can get pricy depending on how large their home is.

how much do you want to spend? would she like a spa certificate?
or maybe a baby’s 1st photoshoot paid by you…
or maybe start a college fund for the baby?

I would have personally loved anything that would get me more rest and sleep. I don’t know how the logistics would work but a gift certificate towards a baby sitter or night nanny would have been a great gift for me.

I would have loved a gift certificate for a cleaning service – not sure if those exist!

My friend recently became a mom to a second baby girl. She already had all the big stuff plus hand me down clothes, so I gave her a Groupon for a massage and offered to babysit while she went.
ETA: I know you can’t ship childcare, but you could give something like a SpaWish gift card that can be used across the country.
