My shower is this sunday, and Future Mother-In-Law seems convinced that most people will be bringing $$ instead of gifts.
My question to you bees is did you a) save the shower money until after the wedding or b) if you spent it, what did you spend it on?
I think it should be saved until after the wedding, and then used to buy things that weren’t bought off the registry, but Fiance just wants to spend it right away on “fun” things – aka new video games, tech. toys etc

We got almost $10K from the shower and wedding combined and saved all of it. If there was something we wanted we’d buy it, but we prefer to save. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with spending it though.

We didn’t receive money from the guests at the shower but we did receive money at the wedding. I don’t think it necessarily needs to be spent on stuff from your registry, I think you and your Fiance should compromise a bit when it comes to spending it since it is a gift for both of you.
We ended up just putting the money we received at the wedding into our savings account. I guess we spent a bit more on our honeymoon than originally planned because our guests were very generous but we didn’t feel the need to only spend it on registry items. If we had received money from our shower it likely would have gone in the savings account as well.
