So I have a friend who is a professional make up artist who is doing my make up for free. She says that it’s her gift to me, which is fine. But am I supposed to get her a thank you gift or a thank you card? The people getting me stuff off my registry wouldn’t be getting a gift, they would get a thank you card. Confusing!

I’d write a thank you card just like you would anyone else giving you a gift.

I think a thank-you card is totally sufficient. Treat it like any other wedding gift!

Id give her a bottle of wine and a thank you card later personally. It really depends on your relationship.

I agree, I would write a thank you card. In terms of writing a thank you card, I feel like when you’re in doubt, go ahead and write one. I’d rather have someone get mad at me for saying “thank you” (which seems silly :-)) than someone getting mad at me for not writing one.

Jeez! But on the off chance she decides to buy me a gift. I should get her a gift correct? I wouldn’t know that until the wedding. Wouldn’t that be rude to wait until after my honeymoon to send someone a thank you gift?

I think a gift isn’t necessary but fine if you want. And also fine to send it post-honeymoon if you want to wait and see.

I think a thank you card would be sufficient. If you feel like being generous, I think a small gesture like a box of local chocolates or a bottle of wine would be very nice, though not required.
