I’m trying to find out if there’s a way to register for something that’s not a place setting or random accoutrements from William Sonoma. Let’s say I wanted a to add wedding videography (or flipcamography) or photography to my registry, is there a website or a way to do this? Or would I just have to add it to my wedding website somehow?

MyRegistry, an online unviersal registry might allow for something like this.
You can manually add things, descriptions from retail stores that have no websites. So I’d imagine you can arrange in such a way for a service?

I used amazon.com’s gift registry. I like it a lot.

I looked at that site, but they didn’t seem very trust-worthy. I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to use them. Do you have any experience using it?

@chloeo88: I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man in a friend’s wedding last year and she used MyRegistry… she loved it and I’m probably going to use it when I start registering because a lot of the things I like are from small stores that wouldn’t have their own registry and they let you pick things from anywhere. I bought off her registry there with no problem, so I think it’s trust-worthy!

Thank you so much Holly!! You helped quell those fears for sure. I guess I’ll give it a trial run and see if it will let me register for stuff like photography and videography. hehe. Thanks again everyone!

One thing you should consider is how much these things cost. If they are over a couple hundred dollars, it’s not likely that one person is going to purchase the entire amount for you. Is there a way for people to make amount donations toward the photographer?

I was just using the photographer as an example. I’m thinking of asking for a video from this company called Storymix Media and it only costs about $500. I want to put it on a registry or site somewhere. If more than one person wants to contribute, could they do so?

My only two registries were MyRegistry and Macys so it’s totally legit.
I LOVED MyRegistry. It was nice being able to add items from local stores with no websites or whatnot on the registry.
Re: The media options. You create the listing for non online stores. So you could very well just create x listings for Storymix Media in different price points. You may or may not get the $500 needed for the package but at least it’ll be $$ towards it which is what you want anyway?
There is also a cash gift option via PayPal.
Check out the site, there has been quite a few updates since my registry so not sure what has changed.
