Hi! I’m having a destination wedding in Mexico next summer (Ensenada) and a large part of our wedding guests are from Mexico. Both my immediate family and my fiancee’s family are from the States. Can some one explain the gift registry tradition in Mexico? Is it expected? What is it called? I’ve heard ‘mesa de regalos’.
Neither my fiancee nor I are actually expecting gifts since we understand that there is a huge cost with our guests traveling to be with us on our wedding day. But, knowing both our families, most WILL bring a gift.

aidah: hi, Im going to be in a similar situation as you regarding gifts/Mexico etc. Did you ever find a solution?
also, did you have make-up/hair? And if so do you recommend anyone. I too will be having my wedding in Ensenada.
Thanks so much

I live in Mexico and yes, the “mesa de regalos” is expected, I often see the registry number included with the invitation. I’m not sure if the major department stores have online registries but it’s worth a shot. Try Liverpool, Sears, Palacio de Hierra, etc. Although I guess lugging everything back to the US could be quite some trouble.
