- Wedding: March 2013
Fiance and I were invited to his male cousin’s Wedding this September. It’s a destination Wedding for us (We’re in NYC, the Wedding is in Chicago) and we received a Bridal Shower invite for the Bride (Cousin’s Fiance). The weird thing is it was addressed to my Fiance, not to me. I thought they were typically a female thing, but who knows anymore.
We can’t make the Shower, because it’s also in Chicago, but I went online, found their registry and bought them a few items off of it to send them.
My question is: Does this count as the Wedding Gift? We’re not close with them, at all and we’re still debating going to the Wedding, but if we decline, do we buy them something else, or send them money as a gift? Or are we covered?
Also, if we DO decide to go to Chicago, we’ll be flying. How much is expected as a gift to the couple for a travel-required wedding?
For reference, we gave the groom’s brother $250 at his Wedding last September, which was near us in NY. We were not invited to their shower, so that was all we gave them.
