I’m planning on paying for the dresses for my BM’s (of course, they need to be moderately priced since I’m having 3-4 BMs). Should I purchase gifts for them as well, or will the dresses suffice? I don’t have a large budget to work with, so I’m leaning toward ‘no’.
Edit: I’m also going to be paying for the hair/make-up artist for the day of.

well if you’re going toward paying for their attire, i think maybe if you wanted to give them a gift closer to the day giving then a bracelet or necklace or something that they could wear the day of the wedding would be nice. no need to go expensive on that, there is plenty of cute jewelry for cheap that you could find.

It is so nice of you to pay for the dresses. I think something small would be a nice gesture–what’s your forte? Draw from that so you don’t have to buy anything/much. You could make them a some muffins, put together a small set of stationery, frame a photo, that sort of something.

I think if you’re paying for the dresses, you don’t have to get more gifts, though something small would be nice. I was once in a wedding where the bride contributed $150 (of $300) towards our dresses as our bridesmaid gifts, and then later, covered the cost of hair and makeup.

@MissCremeBrulee: I forgot to mention I’m also paying for the hair and makeup for the wedding day too..

As a bridesmaid, I would appreciate you paying for the dresses, make-up and hair. I have very rarely ever used my Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts after the wedding, so if you can save them on the cost of the dress, hair and make-up, then I think it would suffice and be very appreciated!

I think that’s fantastic! I wish I could pay for the dresses but I have EIGHT girls, so that’s out. I don’t think you have to get them anything else – that’s more than enough already. Basically it’s not costing them much to be in your wedding – which I would LOVE as a bridesmaid.
If you feel you need to do something – def. go small, I’d say get them something like a pashmina/wrap from a vendor on the street – so no more than $5 bucks really, and inexpensive oldnavy flip flops for the reception. You can wrap them together with a small amount of ribbon so you at least have something to present to them at your rehearsal dinner.
