- Wedding: December 2010 - Al Cielo / La Laguna
My girls have been fan-freaking-tastic so I want to make sure they know how much I appreciate them. Here is what I have so far to give them at the rehearsal dinner:
- Necklace, earings and braclet
- Sunglasses that match thier dresses
- Purse for the wedding
I would really like to get them something that they won’t be using in the wedding that they can simply just enjoy. We are having a destination wedding and I thought about getting them a massage at the spa or an excursion like zip lining or snorkeling but I keep wondering if maybe I should be giving them something more tangible that they will be able to keep.
What did you give your bridesmaids and how did you decide that was what you wanted to get them? Thanks!!

I’m still thinking about it and I have only 2 more days for the rehearsal dinner (I’m going shopping today). Good post I hope to get some ideas from this…. Congrats!

I think a massage would be great. That is one of those luxuries that everyone loves, but some people don’t want to spend the money on for themselves. Plus you ladies could just relax and spend that time together.

I hand made necklaces and earrings (to match each particular dress style) from vintage silver findings and austrain crystal. I also gave them fancy purple flip flops with rhinestone o-rings to change into for dancing.

Depends on if your ladies like massages (I know, how could anyone NOT like them?!). I’m guessing if it’s an option, you know that they do, but I know that two of my BMs do NOT like massages–they hate how it feels, lol. However if you know that they enjoy them, then go for it! I would love that.

I’d love an excursion if I were a Bridesmaid or Best Man at a destination wedding! Just make sure you know it’s something they like, and I think the memory will be much better then another gift.

if you are already giving them jewelry, sunglasses and a purse, i voted for an excursion. even if you give them something “sentimental,” that item could get lost or damaged on the trip. personally, i don’t really like to keep “things”. if it were me, i would love to do an awesome activity or excursion, esp if it were with the bride and the rest of the girls. you can throw things away, but the memories (and photos!) will last much longer.

I am obsessed with buying Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts. It has really gotten out of control….everything I see that’s cute I think about how it would make a good Bridesmaid or Best Man gift.
Vera bradley is having a nice 10% free shipping sale on their sale items for the next 3 days. They have really nice wallets for $10. I had bought some extra large duffle bags back on Black Friday for $30 for my girls. They are way too large though.
I got pearl necklaces on overstock, jewelry pouches on Etsy, Pashmina shawls (from a trip to Nepal), and beeswax cream and chapstick.
You should check out Etsy for Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts, they have some really nice things! The massage sounds nice also if you wanted to do that. Massages are not usually things people treat themselves to.

I think an excursion or a spa thing at the resort would both be fun ways to commemorate the Destination Wedding.

Thanks all! I am kind of leaning towards the spa now that everyone has said how much they would love it but how no one ever buys it for themselves.
I won’t be able to join the girls because of the schedule after the wedding but do you think they would still like it if they could all go together??

OMG I am starting to freak. I bought my 5 BMs necklaces from etsy, made from victorian wax seals, and each girl has a different one based on their personality. They were 35-45 each. I am planning to pay for their hair and makeup on wedding day, as well as my mom and mog, which will be about $2000 for all 8. Am I supposed to do more???? I have tried to keep their costs down ($200 dress, my mom is buying them shawls, we are having the shower at my mom’s house, lowkey bachelorette party in town, etc). I can’t afford much more…

I think an excursion would be awesome, but not everyone is into those things. Are your girls? I voted for the message though, because it is a great way to relax.

What I gave all 3 bridesmaids:
1). 10mm 14K yellow gold round stud earrings from Macy’s
2). 14K yellow gold necklace with agate semi precious stones
3). LLBean navy and white striped beach bag with their initials embroidered in red
4). Custom clutch purse in gold (each girl will receive a slightly different fabric, although its the same style)
5). I paid for $150 towards each dress
Additional gift I am giving my Maid of Honor:
1). She and I went to Notre Dame together and I am paying for us to both go back for a football game this fall (she hasn’t been back since we graduated 7 years ago). I’m paying for her flight and hotel at a 4.5 star hotel in Chicago for 2 nights.
