I was wondering about this too. My mom said no gifts to parents are needed or expected and that us having a happy marriage is gift enough to them, but I think I’ll give each set of parents (grooms parents, my mom and my dad-who are divorced) a wedding album specific to their respective sides of the family after the wedding. If you can afford to gift a getaway to your mom and stepdad who are contributing more, that is a great gift. Personally, my dad contributed the most to our wedding by far but I want the gifts to be more equal and not based on what amount they contributed to the wedding.

sjrmt2016 :  My understanding is that the gifts to the parents are not related to the financial support they are providing for the wedding. In some ways that would be silly. Buying a more expensive gift for the parents paying the most is basically just returning their money.

These gifts are to thank the parents for raising you to be the adults that you are, and for their support of the relationship.

If you are thinking of a night in a B&B for your Mom and Stepdad because that is something they enjoy, what do the others enjoy?

sjrmt2016 :  If you are going to present them with their gifts at the rehearsal dinner, which is traditional, I would endeavor to keep them close to the same perceived value. You can always gift your Mom something more in private.
