1. The reception is technically your thank you for attending the wedding. You technically only have to write thank yous to those who gave a gift

2. Do not feel obligated to invite the family. It can be customary to put everyone’s name on a gift out of habit.  At my shower, only women attended, but many signed their cards with their husband and children’s names, too.

1. Just send one thank you now.  No need to send another just for coming.

2. Don’t worry about inviting the kids.  My mom has sent wedding gifts and included me and my brothers even though we weren’t invited (and knew that).  The probably just said they whole family because they didn’t know who would be invited and wanted to cover all of their bases.
