@Elrodien:  I got married in October, would love to discuss vendors etc with you Check out my wedding so you can see what I’m talking about ! http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/hello-again-weddingbee-brief-update-on-the-wedding-of-my-dreams#axzz2sVezrQtJ

makeup & hair: I went to Zasu in Hinsdale. It’s BEAUTIFUL and elegant and soo nice! The prices were reasonable considering it’s bridal too.. There’s a Zasu in Naperville too.  They can come to you or you can go to the salon. We went to the salon so that we could all get done up at the same time.

photographer: depends on your budget. I went with David Witting Photographer. It was my big splurge bc pictures have always been really big for me. They have a hefty sticker price but I could not possibly be any happier with my pics. They do photojournalism style and the pictures have a really organic feel that makes you feel like you are there not just loooking at portraits. I don’t have my full set yet but from my 250 preview shots there was NOT A SINGLE PICTURE I didnt LOVE!

DJ: OMG please chec out DJ Chicago! And ask for GIL! We LOVED him! I think we paid under 1000 for him and he rocked! They do a nice Must Play and Do Not Play list and let you choose from a wide database of songs and then find songs at your request. Our guests commented on how great he was bc the songs just blended into one another, you couldnt tell where one ended and one began! One of the things I loved most about him was that DJ Chicago pride themselvs on not doing any cheezy DJ crap like “How’s everyone doing? I can’t hear you!!” They really are more or less invisible and just are playing good tunes!

Bakery: Please check out my recap thread and check out thecakes. My friend does them (Cakes for Atlantis) and is insanely reasonably priced. SHe creates custom cakes and can make it anything you want with a wide variety of flavors. I wanted nontraditional cakes but she does lovely traditional cakes too

Flowers: Loved my florist and can provide you her contact info if you are interested in a message. She works for Fleur de Lis but also works privately, Her name is Lauren Cornille.

Good luck and please feel ffree to msg me if  you want any more info!

Love your avatar :).

Just wanted to mention photogs Miller + Miller. We loved them. They’re amazing. Singles best wedding decision ever.

Our videographers were amazing as well! Lynkz Studio

Our reception was at Idlewild in Flossmor and we could not have picked a better place.

I loved my wedding makeup artist – look up Edit Faces on Facebook.  I used timothy whaley for photography and videography.  They did such a great job but man was it pricey!  We had our reception at venutis in addison and the cake was provided through them.  It was from the baking institute and it was amazing.

For flowers we used Yanni Design Studio – absolutely stunning – they also did uplighting and full room draping.  Also for our table clothes and chaircovers we used the Chair Couture.  If you need any more recommendations let me know.

@Elrodien:  I’m not married yet, but I LOVED Reddington Bridal in Park Ridge. The owner is just so nice and they really listen to what you want. I also appreciated the fact that I was the only bride in the store (its by appt).

Where are you getting married at?

For hair and makeup I used the Bridal Beauty Salon – they’ll travel anywhere in the area.  HIGHLY recommend.  They were wonderful.

Flowers, again highly recommended, we used Fleur.  Kelly was amazing!  She did such perfect and beautiful work.

Photography we used Behnke Photographers.  They’re in Mokena but will travel anywhere.  They were great and very reasonably priced.  We didn’t need a lot as far as photography and it wasn’t that big of a deal to us, so we didn’t want to spend a lot of money.

@Elrodien:  We hired Duke from Style Matters. We are so glad we did. We had the best time dancing at our reception. It was as if we gave him our iPods and he created the most amazing playlist ever and we have pretty eclectic tastes. He mixed songs live, which many wedding DJs don’t do. He had a wonderful friendly, no-attitude demeanor.

Elrodien:  ah yikes wish I read this thread early lol. Yeah his wife is his assistant but more so in terms of lighting but not like an extra camera. We have a smaller wedding so this works with one. ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t found my cake yet but I regularly visit Toni’s patisserie and Oak Mill Bakery. They have branches in the burbs as well.
