OMG… thats awful! I’m considering ordering from http://www.mybigfatbeautifulwedding.com when that time comes, but yea… we’ll see. I’m sorry your experience was so awful!

P.S. I don’t see the actual gown you recieved.

I think it’s pretty close! Seeing as how you are in love with the designer version, you were probably expecting an exact knock off. Honestly, the one on you looks really good! But I see what you mean about it being a smidge too short, and about the apron portion flairing. It also looks a little off color.

If you can’t return it, can you request they at least fix the main issues with it? Make it longer (or layer one more bit of lace on the bottom to mimic that effect) and fix the poof on the apron (perhaps not using a stiff material like taffeta?)

From a distance, it really looks good though. I’m sure up close you see the sequins/beads/etc, but i’m sure the designer version is made with a luxe lace and the one you got isn’t, which is mostly the issue and relatively unavoidable when you’re cutting corners like cost

One theme that I have noticed in all of my board stalking on this topic of buying a custom made replica…

All of the positive posts and boards have been satin, taffeta, heavy material w design elemetns like pleats, rouching (however do you spell that!) beading, embroidery etc. All of the negative posts have really been where the dress is made up of lace. Lace seems to be very hard to replicate on the cheap and still make it look nice. Apparently satin and other materials are easier.

This is just an observation that I have made but let me tell you.. I have read HUNDREDS of posts, feedback and reviews on this topic as I am highly considering having a replica made of my dream gown (Millys Bridal).

Honestly, I think they look pretty similar, the only real difference I see is that the part that lays on the hips is a little too long on you, prob by 3 inches, could you send it back and just get them to do a few tweaks?

Out of curiosity did you try the actual designer dress on first before you ordered?

The sleeves are different.  The designer pic the sleeves have a deep scallop and yours do not.  The canopy on the waist is different too.  Very different hemlines also.

So sorry this happened to you.

It’s all very different to me… I would be upset and I can see how you are too. Don’t let it ruin your day, as you still look good- but I can tell it’s not what you wanted. I know someone who got her dress made by Gioavonni’s and had a horrific experience and the quality was TERRIBLE. Maybe you can find a local seamstress to shorten the sleeves and lengthen the bottom?? I think that would make a big difference.

The Internet and pictures honestly can never replace seeing and feeling the fabrics in person and having a series of personal one on one fittings!    Anything looks good in a professional photo with a model, but always needs some pattern personalization for a client.  Can’t be done long distance, girls!
