Can I ask WHY you want your daughters to exercise in a dress?

sf618b :   Sorry if this has been asked, but I’m just so curious. Your kid’s school does not require specific school shoes? My kids can wear whatever footwear they want to school but when they get inside, they take off their shoes and change into their runners that are worn inside the school and used for gym.

mrsmay07 :  school shoes are a thing? Why not just send them to school wearing those particular shoes then? I just find that weird lol. I’ve only ever heard of all or nothing uniforms. Never just a shoe uniform! If it’s just gym shoes, I get it. But if they have to wear one particular shoe the entire school day, why not have them just wear it in the first place instead of changing at school…

I’m a teacher….. a large number of parents are like this. In my experience they are the rule, not the exception. People say kids these days aren’t the same, but really it’s parents these days. missviolet92 :

I had to “dress out” for gym, with school provided gym uniforms. I didn’t know that was an issue at other schools.

Weird.

I have no idea lol, when I was in primary (elementary) school we were only allowed to wear knicker/panties and bare feet for gym class, no vest and no shoes at all and no other clothes so this was not an issue.

I don’t recall having any rules regarding clothing in PE ( we don’t really have any rules regarding clothing or appearance or handbooks etc.). But I feel like it was just generally accepted that you wear shorts/trackies/tights and sneakers to gym class. And I’m sure tennis/golf skirts would fall under that category as well.

Of course you can excercise in dresses and jeans. There are even running competitions where you have to wear heels. But I can totally understand that it’s just not appropriate for that.
