Love this post! I have 14 tattoos & I’m 21. I know I’m young and as of now I don’t regret them but I don’t feel I ever will, they all have such deep meanings to me. They are a part of me and will be shown on my wedding day. I haved worked in a secondary school and primary school and they have never been an issue. Its weird seeing pictures of me ink free as I feel like that’s not me.

Astar312:  This is the coolest tattoo I have seen. There are so many amazingly well drawn tattoos, but I’m also a major horror fan and LOVE Freddy! The hand is nice, but the signature is seriously cool.

Love this thread topic! Interesting questions you raise OP.

I agree that tattoos are a very personal thing. I have two, one on my foot and one on my inner wrist. I thought about tattoos for many years before getting them, I always know I would eventually as going through life unadorned just didn’t make any sense to me! In saying that I was over 30 when I got my first one, so I like to think sure of myself and what designs I picked and placement etc… I spent a reasonable amount of time talking to the artists that did mine. I wouldn’t be able to just walk in to a studio and just pick something then and there! I knew I would have to vibe with the artist and have a good rapport with them.

    Loving everyones pics!

Bottom pic is my peony flower, freshly done so looking a bit raw!

I wouldn’t get the tattoo I got again, but I don’t regret it. It symbolizes the place I was at the time. It’s on my chest.

I have quite a few but this is my newest. It was done in June in memory of my dog Abby.

I have two smaller tattoos. The first one is a little pawprint on my foot for my beloved dog that passed away and the second it the quote “I carry you in my heart” that I got after my first miscarriage. I don’t regret getting them and I know that I never will. I’m going to get more tattoos for sure, but I’ll only get ones that are meaningful.

This was right after I got it done, so it’s really red. It is the only tattoo I have currently, and I chose to get an oriole and black eyed-susans to represent Maryland, which I lived in my entire life until I up and moved to Austin, Texas. I had wanted a tattoo for a while, and had various ideas about what I wanted, but this just seemed to be the right thing for me. I actually didn’t even see the design until my artist had drawn it out and was about to tattoo it on me. I had told her I wanted an oriole and black eyed-susans, and where I wanted it to be positioned, and left the rest up to her.

I haven’t regretted it at all since I’ve gotten it. I forget it’s there a lot of times because it’s on my shoulderblade, but when I catch a glimpse of it in the mirror it always makes me smile. I was never someone who was afraid to change my “look” – my hair has been every color under the sun, short, long, etc. I think some people think all tattoos have to mean something, and I don’t necessarily agree with that. I think it’s perfectly ok for someone to have a tattoo on their body simply because they like an artist’s work and want to have a piece on them forever.

As for being open-minded, the only negative comments I have ever received about my tattoo were from my grandmother who does not agree with tattoos. Any other time someone comments on it, it’s to tell me how beautiful the colors are, or how much they like it. I know tattoos aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I really enjoy mine.

pess:  So.. I have two pretty big Cala Lily tattoos.. took ~13 hours of labor to get ’em done.

I wanted Cala Lillies for 8 years or so, so I figured it would be forever.  I was also going through a bit of a phase… 21 and dumb, etc…

Now I’m 26 and, honestly?  I like them, but I sort of wish I hadn’t gotten the tattoo.  The tattoo itself is beautiful, but I’ll never have uninked skin again and I regret that.  Not enough to get laser removal, but enough to just… regret it a bit.  I still love them sometimes, and I never hate them… but often I’m indiffierent, and I don’t like the idea of having something so permanent on my body that I couldn’t really care less about.

I’m lucky though–unless I choose to wear low rise pants and show my mid-driff, or I’m in a bikini, you can’t see them.  Most people don’t knwo I have them and are shocked if they ever see me in a bikini.  I like that… I’m so thankful I didn’t my tattoo somewehre visible.  I definitely forget I have it ALL the time.

I’ve got what feels like loads lol.

I saw a film when I was younger and in it there was a stunning woman who’s whole body was covered in tattoos except her face, hands and feet. That was when I knew I had to be like that.

    I am got covered (yet)

got my first one at 15, a flying horse on my tummy but it was done by an unlicensed tattooist. He used a really thick needle so it looked Ugly. I got it covered up last year with a purple flower and swirl design. I have a pentagram on my left ankle ask I believe in the four elements and its a symbol of protection. My right ankle has my dogs name plus date of death. My right wrist has a feather with grandma above it and my left wrist says grandads girl because they raised me. My left hand has a tribal and orchard design on it as a symbol that I am like an orchard in the fact I can grow in any situation /condition. Last but not last I have a red rose under my left breast with my husbands name through the stemi also have a white tigers face in the tramp stamp position on my lower back
