So, after my nightmare with afloral.com, Fiance and I decided that we could splurge on my bouquet. Yay! So I call FOUR florists in our area and the first question I ask them was: What is peony season in this area?
I already know. We use to have a huge huge peony bush at our old house and it would bud around the end of May and fully bloom in the middle of June. So every florist tells me the same thing. Okay, so I ask for a quote. NONE OF THEM WILL GIVE ME A QUOTE OVER THE PHONE! They all told me that I would have to BOOK MY WEDDING with them and THEN they would talk about prices. WTF!? Yeah, so let me book a florist that I may or may not be able to afford. That’s going to happen. UGH!
Is this a normal practice?

So crazy! Each florist I contacted explained that naturally, the final cost would depend on which flowers were used, but they all at least gave me a base estimate.

They couldn’t give me a price but they usually gave at least a range.

That makes no sense, they should at least be able to give you a rough idea of cost. Have you sent them pictures of what you like so they can see exactly what kind of thing you are looking to replicate?

They wouldn’t even give me a “Starting at” cost. I was like WTF!? I was ready to throw my cell phone out of the window. I see why people hire planners!
I told each of them a simple peony bouquet. Nothing else. No roses, no filler, no bling. Just peonies. That couldn’t be too hard to give me an estimate right?

That’s ridiculous. They should at least be able to give you a range, if not a specific cost. I understand that the final cost will depend on the exact price of the stems on the day the florist purchases them, but they know what range that price will be in! Come on!
