Yipeebee:  I totally understand where you are coming from! I’ve always been super into yellow gold, and really not interested in platnium. My fiance mentioned that when he went to go pick the ring out, the woman behind the counter tried to talk him out of it because it is too old fashioned! I’m so happy he didn’t listen. I think I really like the yellow gold because it makes the ring stand out more. There is also a huge variance in color as the karats of the gold increases and decreases, obviously, but something to think about.

My diamond is rather small, but my ring is so perfect for me.

Yipeebee:  I have to chuckle when I read about people being told that yellow gold is “too old fashioned”. Especially by jewelry sales people. Back when DH and I got engaged (about 22 years ago — we had a looooooong engagement, ha, ha!), I desperately wanted white gold. We couldn’t afford platinum. None of the stores had white gold. At all. They told us they couldn’t even order white gold. And you know why? Because it was too “old fashioned”!

Anyhow, I ended up with my original ERing, which is 18 KT yellow gold, with platinum prongs for the center stone.

Yipeebee:  Ha, ha! Now I really feel like an old fart.

I had always wanted white gold because that’s what my mom had. But, also, I always wore silver jewelry and think white metals go with my skin tone better. I have an allergy to yellow gold below a certain karat, too.

It is really funny, though, isn’t it? It’s just proof that beautiful things never really go out of style.
