We had a 5pm ceremony too, so hopefully this works- we (BM and I) got ready at my house which is about 45 mins drive from the venue.

First thing was the photos of the boys- 1pm. The photographers were with them for about an hour and them came to be with us girls. This suited them as they could relax afterwards before going to the venue.

Hair and Make up was tricky cause I had make up at my house, and hair at the hairdressers, so I’ll just say that these were finished by 3:00 for my stuff and 3:30 for my Bridesmaid or Best Man. The photographers got to my house at about 2 (prob a bit after?) to take photos of the ‘stuff’ (dress on hanger, jewellery…) and help me not feel stressed! Flowers arrived 3:30ish.

3:30-4:15 was photos at the house of Bridesmaid or Best Man and I (and I got mum in a couple too!).

5:00 ceremony. I arrived at 5:01- was the hottest day of summer so I didn’t want everyone waiting for us and we had already done acouple of laps around the block lol

5:30- family photos (quickly!) then bridal party photos

5:45 entree/ starters (we asked for this to be nice and early- this was brought out to the bridal party during photos)

7:00- formal entrance, then quick cake cutting, then first dance (to get it over and done with!) and then mains 🙂 I REALLY didn’t want mains to come out late…

8:00 speeches (if people were still eating then so be it…) then dance music (we did an iPod with requested songs and played these then)

8:30 dessert then more dance songs once the requested ones were over…

11:00 leave (though we ended up staying later hehe)

not perfect, but it worked for us!

11am – Hair and Make-up, getting dressed

2pm – pre-ceremony pictures (standard bride & groom shots, close family) in a location away from the ceremony location

4pm – ceremony

5pm- sweet tea and welcome drinks at reception venue

7pm – 2-course dinner

8/8.30pm – first dance

0.30am – last call

1pm – party is over, although we might spontaneously decide go to the casino or club around the corner

We are keeping things simple, though – no speeches, no games. I was totally in love with a wedding cake but decided against it once I realised it would interrupt the flow of things. Instead, we are using cake stands with cupcakes and cookies, and Ferrero Rocher pyramids as centerpieces. That way everyone can just help themselves when they are hungry and we don’t have to pay extra for centerpieces.

Here was mine. Aside from being 5 mins late to the reception after photos, we ran on-time or even early for some parts! For hair and makeup there was me, mum and 4 bridesmaids. The primary MUA did everyone’s makeup and hair for me and mum. And another hairstylist did the bridesmaids. Our venue and the 2 houses we got ready at were all within 15 mins drive of each other which meant our photographers could travel between both groom and bride for getting ready pics and our cars could make 2 trips.

8:00am hair and makeup starts

10:00am second hairstylist arrives

12:30pm photographers/video arrive

2:00pm hair and makeup finish, take pics

3:30pm cars collect groom and groomsmen and take to the venue

4:00 cars return to collect bride and bridesmaids

4.10pm guests arrive for ceremony

4.30pm bride arrives, ceremony commences

5:00pm ceremony concludes

5.15pm-6pm Family and bridal party photos on-site. lawn games/refreshments

6.00pm cocktail hour. Bride and groom portraits off-site

6.45pm guests invited inside and seated

7.00pm bridal party welcomed

7.10pm entrée served

7:45pm speeches and cake cutting

8.15pm mains served

9.10pm bridal dance

9.30pm dessert served

11.00pm function concludes

kcoast :  If you aren’t doing pictures after your ceremony, and your guests aren’t sitting around unhosted between ceremony and reception, there’s no need 🙂

Our venue offers a cocktail hour with the standard package (in other words, they won’t not do one) and we’re doing a first look, so we’re going to use it as an opportunity to greet all of our guests instead of doing a receiving line or going table to table during the reception.
