Ladies,
About a month ago I posted a picture of an adorable little tuxedo cat that we were going to be adopting and asking you to name him. I have an update!
We went along to the shelter on the Saturday to have a look at him and he was so shy. The lovely lady at the shelter advised that he was still a good bit underweight (I could feel his ribs and spine) and his hair was quite matted through the back. She felt at this time that it was maybe better that they work with him for another couple of weeks and get the regular vets check ups done before he was rehomed.
Anyway, we went around the pens for about an hour looking at each cat and came across beautiful 9 year old Kizzie. She had been at the shelter for about a year and was overlooked because of her age (I don’t get this at all!). She was so friendly and cuddly so we decided to adopt her (the being at the pen for a year story broke my heart). Here’s a picture of our gorgeous girl.
However, I couldn’t stop thinking about the little stray that we had our heart set on. I contacted the shelter a couple of weeks later and he was ready for rehoming! Kizzie had previously been living with a dog and a male cat so she had been socialised.
He had come on beautifully and, while still a little underweight and in good need of some TLC, was just too adorable to leave behind. We picked him up while we were on a weeks holiday from work in order to make the introduction easier. Here is my gorgeous 2 year old boy whom we named Murphy.
It hasn’t been easy, as many of you will know when introducing cats. Kizzie still isn’t happy about his arrival, and does the usual hissing and growling, but we’re getting there. He’s a very laid back, sweet natured boy and has yet to respond to her. He’s fattening up nicely and I groom him every other day. Hopefully in time Kiz will settle down but so far it’s been wonderful.
