Hi, we want to give a rose to each of our mothers to say thank you for all the love and support we have been given. Can someone tell me what color rose is traditionally given for this? I read it should be red and then it should be white?? Help!!

@cobi: we are doing white only because it will match our color better than red

I’ve never heard of a traditional color for this nor had I ever seen it done at any wedding besides my parents’ and my own so I don’t think it is all that common of a thing.
We gave flowers (like a presentation bouquet) to each mother as we were exiting the ceremony and had our florist make them coordinate with the rest of our wedding flowers (which for us just happened to be red and white).

You can choose whatever color you like:
Red – Love, passion, respect and courage
Yellow – Joy, friendship and freedom
Pink – Happiness, gratitude, appreciation and admiration
Cream – Thoughtfulness, charm and graciousness
Orange – Admiration, fascination, enthusiasm and desire
White – innocence, purity, secrecy, reverence and to honor those who are deceased

I’ve seen rainbow roses be handed out too.

I walked in to the ceremony carrying three pink roses, which i presented to my mum, my step-mom and my partner’s mom before joining him. Everyone was quite touched and we hadn’t even said our vows yet!
I didn’t have bridesmaids so this solved the ‘what to do with my bouquet’ problem.
