If an opinion is requested or help asked for, a response of a personal opinion will be given.  That is advice.  The line is crossed when there are labels attached to actions – you’re immature if you blah blah blah.  You are wrong to blah blah blah.  If your implication is that your way is the best, thats preaching.  But if you are simply stating your way – harmless advice.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s been much ‘preaching’ here.  Just strong words of advice.  (Maybe a few unnecessary labelling of immaturity.  Though I did agree with the advice given in the specific thread, I did not agree that doing the opposite signalled immaturity)

I think I may know what thread you’re referring to, and yes sometimes even the most well-intentioned advice can come across as preachy.  But I think if you ask for advice in an open forum like this, you’re kind of setting yourself up to get all kinds of opinions.

That’s the beauty (and sometimes the pitfall) of the boards!

This board has always been pretentious. Most of the posters on here pretend they have a perfect relationship.. until something happens to them and then they make a sockpuppet so their original username won’t be shamed 😉

For the most part, the bees are pretty darn nice.. but still usually preachy.

I think the alts are more for real life than the bee.  Sometimes people in real life know we’re on the bee and know who we are here.  There are situations where we dont want someone we actually know to find something out.
