My wedding is very low budget, and I’m using a photographer that’s fantastic, but she’s never done a wedding. Is it okay to give direction about exactly what points in the wedding to take pictures of? I already have a list of family portraits, but I mean, tell her make sure to get the first kiss, the unity candles, the cake cutting, etc? Should I tell her what decorations to make sure to get pics of? A timeline of the whole wedding?
Thanks in advance!

@rubyred605: My photographer has been in business for years, and she still asked for a detailed shot list because she knows that some things are more important for certain brides than other things. I don’t think it would be out of place at all to give your photographer a very detailed description of what you want.
The Pinterest board is a great idea!

You can find amateur and newbie pro wedding photographers that will work with your budget. I strongly suggest you go this route.
These photographers have shot weddings and know where to be and when to be there in order to capture all the important moments.
These photographers have the necessary specialized equipment to shoot weddings and deal with tough lighting conditions. They also have backup equipment.
These photographers have the necessary insurance that most venues require for all vendors
