Purses and shoes :(.  I know it doesn’t seem that great of a sacrifice, but they are the few things that I buy for myself.  I use the long process of picking out just the right one (usually at Marshall’s or TJMaxx) as “me” time.  The FH has taken on a side job for his long periods off to off set the wedding costs, so I guess we have also lost alot of “our” time too.  Which is important when you have kids in the house.

We are trying to stop eating out and bringing our lunch to work.  Also watching the movies we already own, or renting from the library, rather then go out to the movies.  Also no new clothes, unless needed.  It’s really hard cause we are both so used to dropping cash to do the things we like when we like, and buy the things we want when we want.  We are horrible to have to buy gifts for, normally.

We borrowing books from the library or going to my brother’s house to borrow some.  He has a small forturne in books there.

A new winter coat! I’ll make do with my tatty old coat that’s seen (many) better days. Also, we’re keeping Xmas pressies to a minimum and not buying clothes, electronics or big ticket items until after the wedding.

We were supposed to redo our living room but that will have to wait, a new set of sofas is not in the budget right now. We’ll probably also just do a mini-moon right after the wedding and save up for a proper honeymoon six months later.

I’ve given up so much that last 2-yrs that if I give up anything else, I’ll be living like a hermit! I think I’ll concentrate on exercising more and incorporating walking into my daily routine.

This year we gave up our typical big vacation (did weekend trips to DC and Chicago instead), I’ve cut waaaaay back on clothes/shoes/purses and we need a new car but instead we are driving our current vehicle until the wheels fall off

I told the boyfriend no more trips to Boston, which includes no more games for Baseball or Celtics Basketball.  That’s a HUGE deal for us…however, I want to go to a Celtics game here in DC ONLY b/c its on our 3 year anniversary, then after that no more games! Have no choice on my season tickets for the Skins, but if there is a lockout next year big deal! LOL

Also, he’s overcoming the temptation for buying sports memorabilia.  I on the other hand am trying not to get my makeup but that’s working out very well.  And trying not to get things that aren’t a need.  I shop too much! LOL πŸ™

I’m trying very hard to convince him on the saving money on food, to eat at his apartment.  Problem is the kitchen is very messy b/c of his roommates never clean and he never has room for him to have food in the kitchen, and he thinks it’s not safe for him to cook b/c he’s afraid of havenig a seziure when cooking.
