I spend too much money on shopping. After ordering some shoes last week, I realized that I don’t NEED anything (clothing wise)! So I am going to stop and not buy anything for myself (only essentials) for the next 6 months. I will post updates every month as a way to keep myself in check. I appreciate your support! Join in if you’d like!
The only exception will be wedding related items, but I will not buy another pair of shoes, handbag, dress, top, jeans, jewelry….etc.
WISH ME LUCK!!!

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY????????? Good luck! I think it’s a really good goal to be more frugal. Set aside a little bit each month you’re successful to reward yourself with something at the end of the 6 months!

@weddingbee098: ACK! I’m so with you! Be my no-shopping buddy. I’m so bad, I can’t help myself. Wedding is in less than 6 months and I NEED to save, I’m starting to worry I’ll be short money come May :/

Good luck! Make sure to unsubscribe from any retail store newsletters to avoid temptation. All these cyber Monday deals have been so tempting for me, but I have a new fence to save up for 🙂

@weddingbee098: Good luck! I get carried away too… I try to “replace” things. If I buy a new pair of shoes – get rid of an old pair! If I don’t have any I don’t want to get rid of then I probably don’t need any lol

I Wish you LUCK
I don’t think you are the first to do this… I believe a year or two ago I read about a woman who kept a Blog (she said doing so made her accountable to someone… albeit the Invisible Cyber Someone)
AND she got a ton of great info / TIPs on saving money etc.
Something to consider (or just look up)
And yes, I will be following your posts here on WBee to see how you are doing.

@DaneLady: Mostly because I need to save up for wedding, but also because I spend too much money shopping (don’t we all!? lol). I think I will reward myself with a nice dinner out with Fiance at the end, i love to eat! lol
@MsGinkgo: YES, lets be no shopping buddy for the next 6 months! You can DO it!
@bleusteel: I know, right?! Yes, already unsubscribed! =)

@This Time Round: Exactly! I need some accountability, otherwise, I’d give in to temptation! I will keep everyone posted every month!

I would end up murdering someone. Shopping is the thing that keeps me sane after a crappy week, haha.

@weddingbee098: As someone who hates shopping with a passion, here are a few things that always keep me unmotivated to shop: parking, waiting in line, trying clothes on that make me look fat, the pain of having to break in new shoes, paying for stuff I don’t need, and having to find hangers/closet/drawer space for items I don’t need. Hopefully, these will help make you as unmotivated to shop as me (I’m wearing a shirt I got in 9th grade). Best of luck 🙂

@weddingbee098: This is a fantastic idea! Organize your clothes and stuff at home so you have what you need to make it through. Speaking of I’m now motivated to clean out some of my stuff!

I hear you. I have a little eBay addiction. I had the blah-est waredrobe and I hated going to dinner with friends because I really had no outfits. So I got on fashion blogs, learned how to buy basic pieces, remix them into the waredrobe – so I’ve been buying a lot lately too, but I think I need it! I can slow down now.
Good luck! Write all your expenses down everyday still to see where the money is going!

Girl, I am right there with you. I am a victim of online shopping and regularly spend money on stuff I don’t really need. My Darling Husband agreed to budget so that I can afford my new tattoo (not cheap at $800) so I agreed not to do any shopping for the next 6 months to help make up for it. So far I’m doing okay, but we shall see!

@weddingbee098: I’m joining you! I’m a horrible shopping addict. I am staring at yet another package from EXPRESS (But it was Black Friday! I couldn’t resist!) and making the decision that I do NOT need any more clothes/shoes/make-up.
I’m happy that you put up a shopaholic anonymous thread! Count me in.

@weddingbee098: You can do it!! (I did!). And let me tell you how good it feels when those credit card bills come in and they are TINY compared to what you’re used to.
I haven’t bought myself much over the past year, really, but the past few months I’ve been on a strict no-clothes shopping restriction. I’m still shopping, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve decided that if I don’t need it for the wedding then it can wait. Between wedding purchases and Christmas (which I’ve largely scaled back on this year), I don’t have room in my budget to spend on myself.
