Yes this may sound silly but are any of you brides planning on doing or having your Fiance do a little “freshening up” before the big day? I’m making my Fiance use the teeth whitening strips. And I’m gonna try to do a pre-trial of face tanning lotion on him as well! (Then of course if that looks good we will do the real thing) I don’t want him “tan” I just don’t want him ghostly white with me being next to him rocking a little summer glow. This happened with our engagement pics and he hates them because of this! So please tell me I’m not the only crazy bride who plans on beautifying her groom

I’d never force anything on my husband. He chose to use some whitening toothpaste in the months leading up to the wedding, and he took care of having his hair cut and being clean-shaven. But I wouldn’t “make” him do anything cosmetic. I love him how he is and I wanted him to look like himself for the wedding.
Plus, he’s the one with the tanner complexion in our relationship. 😉

Haha! That’s cute as long as he goes along with it, I’m sure it’s pretty common for brides to want to spruce up their groom for the big day. My Fiance is already perfectly beautiful in every way so there’s no improving him, lol. Me, on the other hand – self-tanner, manicure, pedicure, etc. – a definite must.

ok, I guess I should clarify what I mean. My Fiance drinks red wine (on a weekly basis) and drinks coffee everyday. So when we are standing next to each other getting our pics taken you can see a noticeable difference in the whiteness of his teeth. And with the self tanner, he grows a decent looking beard, when he’s lazy, but when he finally shaves you can tell a difference in color from where it used to be. He already knows that he has to keep up with the shaving so that tell tale pale line isn’t there. So I’m thinking if we use self tanner (sparingly) once then this should help.

I’ll probably just make sure he cleans his nails.

@Braysmomma: That sounds great! Last weekend we went to the beach and my Fiance noticed that his new golf shirt sleeves were a little shorter than what he’s been wearing, so there was a white place on each arm. He mentioned it and I was like, “Oh, I can fix that with self-tanner, hold on.” And I put some on him and it worked great, of course. He said, “I had no idea there was stuff like that.” Haha! Men are so cute sometimes. I’m sure your Fiance is very happy that you care so much to help make him look perfect on your day!

My Fiance will never, ever tan or use whitening strips. He will never wax and he will never get a manicure. I prefer my men beastly and covered in dirt anyway, I am weird I know. But he is in construction and when he comes home dirty and smelling like dust…I have to jump him!
He knows how to clean up nicely though for special occassions, (like doing his hair, put on some cologne and cleaning his nails) so I am not worried about it.

I’m actually the one with the fair complexion in our relationship, so we didn’t have this issue. 😉

Hah! Fiance and I have it backwards. I’m not much of a girly-girl, and he’s… well, it’s not out of hand, but he’s aware of his physical appearance. Apparently he used to tan sometimes before I knew him and he’s been saying lately that he’s so pale it’s bugging him, and he keeps reminding me to use some teeth whitener (whatever it’s called, the kind you put in a tray) because I’ve been hitting the coffee pretty hard and it’s doing a number on my teeth. It’ll all work out in the end!

@Braysmomma: as long as mine shaves his stubble on where a beard would be ( he cant grow facial hair lol I like it this way 🙂 ) plus hes a red head so tanner would probably make im look strnage where he is so pale. as long as he takes a shower and shows up im fine love him how he is 🙂

No. I trust him to take care of himself.
