This is my first post for help. I discovered weddingbee about a month and 1/2 ago and have been very inspired by everyone’s DIY projects. Very exciting!
Mr Pie and I went to a local florist a few weeks back and she suggested that we should do our own centerpieces if we wanted to stay under our $1000 floral budget. (I think we will splurge for orchid bouquets/boutonnieres). She suggested a simple cube with a floating flower (orchid) and she showed us an example in the store with what she called a "glass donut". She mentioned that we could make our own by purchasing the glassware locally instead of through her and that we could just float the blossom on the surface rather than using the "donut".
Well, we tried floating an orchid blossom without the glass donut and it didn’t float flat on the surface. I have done a google search for these glass donuts but haven’t been able to find anything that is affordable. We would need approximately 20 of these. I did find this site: http://www.myweddingfavors.com/inner-circle-glass-vase.html but the price of a single donut is $6.99 which seems a bit outrageous!
If anyone knows where I can purchase these "glass floats" or "donuts" please let me know. I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks and Happy Holidays!
