I bet it is just a round glass table top that is supported by blocks or something underneath where the cake stand is so they can’t be seen. It is super pretty!

I dont think it is a lazy susan, i think under the glass is like a large block of wood or something, directly under the cake stand.

The flowers are gorgeous, but do you really want to spend hundreds of dollars in flowers and labor for something that will be in 1-2 photos, and photos that aren’t going to be hung up, at that?

That is gorgeous! And I think the idea is unique. But if those are real flowers it’ll be quite expensive! And I would try to make it myself with dollar store flowers and hopefully under $100.

Is the cake real?  5 layers high? So do you want to spend a lot of your money on that single cake idea? If you can then I say go for it!

This wedding was featured on Weddingchicks.

The pp’s are correct. They had to have used some sort of support between the tabletop and the glass that is then hidden with the flowers.  The supports would have to go most of the way out to the edge of the glass though, otherwise anyone leaning on the glass could tip the cake over. It would be easy to use clear glass or acrylic tumblers then hide them with the flowers.

You could fill the space with anything you like- tissue poms, coffee filter flowers etc.

@marley1:  Ok…I also found this on Pinterest and I am going to make this happen. I spoke with the coordinator at Marriott (our reception location) and she is going to make it happen. She said they have a large glass block that will lie on its side (2-3 inches thick) directly under the cake. They will then put smaller glass blocks all the way out to the sides to ensure that it will be stable. They also have glass table tops in their restaurant that we can use! I could not be more excited to have such a stunning focal point for our reception.

I am planning on using artificial flowers and other fillers to keep the cost low. Since we are putting the large glass block directly under the cake we won’t have to fill the entire table with flowers…just around the cake. I’m fairly positive I will not need 5 tiers, but I have the option to do “filler layers”. Between the Marriott lady and my handy father they are making this happen!

The only hang up I have is the color of the flowers…our Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are “peacock” colors form Bari Jay and I have no idea what color flowers to use for our July wedding. I am thinking it is going to have to be white and ivory flowers.

DO you have any other wedding colors?  I think ivory and blush could look really cool with your dress color.  Also the table will look amazing.

@setsail2night:  I think using white or ivory flowers would work well. The flowers can overwhelm the cake as they do in the pic above. Your cake will be the focus of attention if you keep the decor a little quieter.
