The colors are red, black, and white with a touch of silver. For the wedding wands, I’m using black, red, white, and silver seam binding and am painting the dowels silver. My question is would covering the dowel part of the wand in silver glitter be too much? How about some silver glitter just at the tip of the dowel?
Thanks for your help! You all are so wonderfully helpful and I really appreciate it!

If you use glitter, use the paint with the glitter/sparkle in it. I have found it doesn’t come off. The glue/glitter method will result in glitter coming off during the waving of the wand, and that will be really messy.
I would just do the top of the wand (above where the hand is), and probably go over it with a sealer (e.g., triple thick) to seal in that glitter.

@mmhefner: I have to ask, what is a wedding wand? I feel like I’m pretty well versed in wedding terminology, but I haven’t heard of that before!
Anyway, if it’s something guests will be holding, I agree with PP. Definitely don’t use loose glitter, that stuff gets everywhere!! And I know some people, like my Fiance, won’t even touch something with loose glitter since it gets all over his hands, and then everything he touches. How about using a glitter spray paint, possibly with a sealer on top. I would think that would be a pretty quick and easy DIY.

Do not put glitter on the part that your guests will touch. That stuff is the herpes of craft supplies. If anything, you could put some on the tip but it may still get everywhere when people shake them.
