We’re having our wedding reception dinner on a big lawn and want to string stands of globe iights like this around the event: http://bit.ly/kccJqU
Does anyone know the cost of hiring pros to execute a project like this is the SF Bay Area — or have any recommendations for actual vendors?
We’d also be interested in DIYing the project if anyone has any insight into how it’s done!!

@forest_fete: I just got quoted A LOT, like $2500ish to have them at my venue in the Bay Area. I thought it was only going to be about $1000. It sounds like a lot of people DIY them but I have no idea how you would go about doing that. Do you have any more insight since posting this? Thanks!

I know! Like everything in wedding world, lighting is really expensive. Ultimately, we decided to DIY it. This WeddingBee post gives some good alternatives. We’re going to buy closet rods and stick them into rented umbrella stands — then basically set it up like Martha recommends in the above post.
One tip: We’ve decided to use small globe lights instead of the big ones, which are very heavy.
Good luck and let me know if you gather any good insight.
