@eecuadrado:  It didn’t taste horrible, but it didn’t taste good, either. I had a horrible headache and was super nauseous afterwards. I could hardly drive home and called out of work that afternoon. I passed with flying colors, though! I was told to stay away from sugar/carbs 12 hours before the test. I had mine in the morning, so I had eggs and bacon for breakfast. Be strict with your diet that day and hopefully you won’t have a false fail!

@eecuadrado: It’s really not that bad. If you have a choice of flavor, go for fruit punch. It tastes like normal fruit punch but a tad bit more sugary. Just stay away from carbs and sugar during the day and eat protein instead.  I don’t even think it matters that much though, I fasted for mine (not intentinoally, I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet when I went to the doc and they just sent me to the test right after) and I failed. I passed the 3 hour with flyiing colors though.  There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. I’m sure you’ll be fine! 🙂

It’s really sugary, and it made me feel a little gross afterwards (not to mention made baby kick like craaaazy), but it wasn’t horrible. Drink it relatively quickly while it’s still cold!

Make sure it’s really cold when you drink it, but don’t pour it over ice.

I was worried too based on what I had heard but honestly it was underwhelming for me. I didn’t fast or anything prior to taking it because I knew I would be starving if I did and I kind of figured if the office hadn’t given me any warnings I could always use it as an excuse, like whoops I didn’t know, retest :). I had some cereal with almond milk, an apple, and some cranberry juice prior to my appointment.

I had the orange drink which was chilled, it didn’t taste terrible but it’s not something I would choose to drink. I didn’t get the shakes or anything after it either. The only “bad” part and I hesitate to even say that is the drink was REALLY cold and I did it on a very cold day so I was chilly drinking it, and it was kind of silly having someone watch you chug a thing of juice lol, but that was it! It wasn’t like a giant liter of cola or anything, good luck!

Just follow their directions and good luck!

I didn’t think the drink itself was that bad, but I had to fast before and during mine (water only).  So I didn’t get to eat breakfast until 10:30am (I drank the thing at 7:50am)…I was starving!  Not sure why some people are told to fast and others are not.

Whatever you normally eat won’t really matter, it’s just the way some people respond to pregnancy.

I was happy I passed though because I’ve been craving sugar for weeks and didn’t want to have to give it up.  I can’t give up my gummy bears.

I didn’t think it was awful. Is there a reason you have to take it in the evening and not in the morning? I did mine first thing in the morning & drank the “sprite” flavored one. It tasted like flat sprite to me & I didn’t have any issues. It was quick and painless. I was instructed by the technician to drink the drink fast & no food or water until after my blood draw in 1 hour & that I had to sit in the waiting room & stay awake the whole time =) I had some thank you cards to work on and a good trash magazine that made the time fly by. Once my blood was drawn I snacked on some almonds in the car on my way home to make sure I didn’t have a crazy crash from the sugar drink. You’ll do great!

@eecuadrado:  lame-o! And it sucks that you have to schedule it! The lab by my house is walk in and open 7 days a week (which is awesome) so I kicked mine out first thing in the morning one day when I was able to drag my butt out of bed early =)
