Yup.  Same thing here.  I managed not to throw up but I definately was sick ALL DAY after.  I had a headache too.

I had my 3 hour test today–I was so nauseous and kind of felt like I had the spins for a few hours after. The other pregnant gal who was taking the 3 hour test while I was at the lab actually threw up the first hour. The phlebotomist said there’s at least one person a day who gets sick during the test so I think it’s normal! But bleh, not fun at all.

No fun at all! 🙁 I think the only reason why I didn’t faint/puke with the glucose test is because I made sure I ate -a lot- before my fasting started. Not eating for that long and then inundating your body with that sugary drink is what makes you feel gross. In my opinion, they need to come up with another way of doing the test because I personally felt pretty light headed and ill afterwards. Not that great to not be feeding baby either, even if its “only” fasting overnight and in the morning. Anyway, I don’t think you’re alone.

I didn’t get sick for the 1 hour or the 3 hour test. I really think it is all based on the person.  The drink isn’t delicious but isn’t as bad as some made it out to be IMO.

Did you have your test in the morning? and did you fast before the test? Because all the people I know who had the test in the morning and didnt eat had some side effects.

I had my test in the afternoon around 3pm and I ate all day long so I felt fine during and after drinking the glucose drink.

I had my test this morning. I started fasting for it last night at 10pm. I went in at 10am this morning and I’m just a little tired from the sugar crash. I felt a little jittery after wards, but once I ate I was fine.  I was prepared for something much worse than what I got.

People described the drink to me like it was going to be the worst thing ever. I expected a thick syrup or something. I just thought it tasted like that kids drink in a barrel – I think it’s called a chug??. I had no issue drinking it.

I wonder if the way your body reacts to it, is a sign of what the outcome will be???

Ugh.  Sorry that sucked so much.  I felt really crappy during mine, but not to the extent that you’re describing.  Can you try to eat some kind of food that will help your body to recover from the sugar rush?  I’m not sure what that would entail… maybe something with some protein.  Take it easy, and I’m sure you’ll feel better by tonight.

@MissDareDevil:  yeah I think doing the test on an empty stomach might cause more of a reaction than someone who has been eating prior to the test…  atleast thats my theory.

I was fine. Mine was at 4.30 in the afternoon so I ate lunch at 12. I fel tired afterwards, but that was about it.

My dr recommended I go first thing in the morning (drink at 7 test at 8) before breakfast for both my 18 and 28 week tests for more accurate results. I felt jittery – and baby moved a ton – during the hour wait. After I was tired and super hungry but was fine after a good breakfast (not coffee and a donut!).

I feel so bad for those of you who got sick.

@mwitter80:  I wouldn’t think so, because I had a horrible reaction from the test, but my results were good.

@heathaah:  Well it could go the other way. Those who had a no reaction to the test could be the one’s in trouble.
