I’m going to Michaels today to buy sticky stuff so that Maid/Matron of Honor and I can assemble part of the pocketfolds this weekend (we’ll be sticking the backing layer to the pocketfold, and assembling the belly band). I don’t actually have the invites yet as I’m having trouble committing to a font, but I have the pocketfolds and the backing cardstock layer so at least we can get started.
Looking at old threads, it seems like people are pretty well divided between glue dots and double sided tape. I’m hoping for some last minute wisdom about the best way to assemble these. Did anyone run in to brands that totally DIDN’T work?
My biggest concern is getting the cardstock on the pocketfold and having it be relatively straight (it seems like this is going to be impossible). Do you think it would be easier to glue to the backing to the pocketfold and then the invite to the backing, or should I wait and glue the invite to the backing and then glue THAT to the pocketfold?

Glue STICKS! I used double sided tape and mine looked awesome, then the next day they started to come un-glued and I had to redo them.
I’d glue the invite to the backing and then to the pocketfold that way you can make sure things are lining up right.

I tried the dots and didn’t like how it bubbled up ever so slightly. I used a rolling type of “double sided tape” of sorts, but I think it was called glue. Its on this link called “mono adhesive”
this stuff was awesome! clean, strong bonding and easy to roll.
To answer your ques, I would DEF put the adhesive on the invite to the backing, THEN to the pocketfold. I did a little trial and error and if you put it on the pocketfold first and then try to stick the invitation/backing to it and miss, you will have a sticky part on the pocektfold exposed!

I’m a fan of glue dots for sure. I never ran into any problems using double sided tape (I just get mind from the dollar store) or I also used double sided photo sticky squares (same as double sided tape, again from the dollar store) which was AWESOME. I probably preferred those over the glue dots because they’re so thin. I found the dots are a bit thick, so if you want things to lay FLAT FLAT FLAT, then the double sided tape/photo squares are the way to go.

@AnnieAAA: Oooh ya, I got some sort of roller glue tape thingy like Mono Adhesive (again from the dollar store, do you see theme here?!) for doing my placecards and that stuff was AWESOME!

Okay. Thanks for the input.
I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.
I’m 38 years old, and this is LITERALLY the first crafty thing I’ve done since they made us to art in elementary school

@camrie: I second the glue STICKS! Double sided tape didn’t stay and the glue squares that I had from michaels were a pain to get off the backing sheet and once they stuck you couldn’t shift anything around.
I ended up using glue sticks and it worked way better…you can apply a little pressure and slide your stationary around to be more straight or even if you accidently put it down wrong the first time. With the glue squares I was stuck first try…
