I’m not gluten free, but my “baby” sister has Celiac.  I was able to find a bakery that has both amazing cakes and gluten free cakes.  I was so happy when I sampled them that I got a bit emotional because I know my sister, though she hides it so well, often feels left out during cake celebrations.  I’m doing wedding cupcakes, so now I’ll be able to get a dozen gluten-frees for her (and guests) to enjoy.

If anyone in the Atlanta area is interested, check out http://www.cakehag.com/

FI’s mom has celiac’s.  She actually found a gluten free bag of preztels made by Snyders one day.  They were pretty good!

@Rouquine: Do you know if these pretzels are sold in mainstream supermarkets?  I’m also on the hunt for new Girlfriend foods.

@GeorgiaTeacup: She found them at a Shop Rite (one of our main grocery stores), but they’re not sold in all of them around us.  She still has a hard time finding things again after she buys them the first time.

@GeorgiaTeacup: No problem.  Good luck! =) I wanted to open my own gluten free deli.  Some people thought I was ridiculous for that.  I think it’s genius.  Hah.

I love the Glutino pretzels!!!  I hate that anything gluten free is so expensive but I’m happy that there’s actually a decent selection of foods out there that are in the grocery store and i don’t have to go to the specialty store to get them.  Any other good tips on snacks?

My friend is gluten free and tonight I am making gluten free cupcakes for her going away party! They are really good! I’ll have to tell her about the pretzels.

Glutino pretzels are good! I am Girlfriend and constantly on the hunt for new good snack foods! I really really like the brand Schar… they have such a wide variety of Girlfriend stuff – white sandwich buns, bread crumbs, cookies, pasta, etc. Udi’s is also a really great brand with good-tasting food too!

I LOVE the Glutino pretzels, did not like the Snyder’s at all. HUGE fan of the Kinnickinik K-Toos!! They taste just like Oreos (at least, how I remember them…)

I was diagnosed with Celiac 3 years ago. Has made this wedding very… interesting. Especially in a not-very-gluten-free-friendly city. Oh well. Such is life.

There isn’t a bakery around here that has Girlfriend cakes/bakery items, so for the reception in the summer it will be a DIY ordeal. Totally cupcakes!
