Our wedding is partly outdoors in the middle of July. Even in Michigan it can be hot. Would it be weird for my fiance to not wear a tux or even a jacket? Maybe he could wear a suit and the GM’s just slacks, shirt and tie?
My dress is long and a lil poofy but plain. The BM’s are wearing short kelly green dresses and I let them choose there dresses.

I am with ya on the heat in July – I am your neighbour to the North/East.
I don’t see any problem with that what so ever!
If you did want them to be formal they could just wear their suit jackets for the ceremony and some photos!

As long as you’re comfortable with it then I don’t think it matters. To help our entire Bridal Party save on cash, we decided to let the girls pick whatever dresses in a generalized color (ie: blue or green) and the guys are going to wear suits. The only big thing to really tie them together will be their ties haha! Joke <– And I seriously second (or third) the idea of it being too hot in a tux. Most guys dislike tuxes because it’s just so unbearably hot with all of those layers on.

We live in Michigan, and though our wedding is in May, and it’s not likely that it will be super hot, I’m pretty sure the groomsmen will be wearing dressy khakis and button down shirts…Our wedding ceremony will be on FI’s dad’s country property, and the groomsmen and Fiance would be uncomfortable if they were overheated. Not to mention my Fiance, and his buddies are not the dressy clothes wearing types lol I’m even thinking about khaki shorts!
I think that if you are okay with a more casual look, they can certainly dress the way you described.

I’m thinking of the same issue for my boys. I’m going to have them wear vests and no jackets, but Fiance is wearing a jacket. Here’s a pic of what I’m thinking.

Also, if the wedding is during the daytime, it really wouldn’t be “appropriate” for them to be wearing tuxedos anyways, as tuxes are for evening only and aren’t traditionally worn in the daytime. I agree with everyone above that suits would be perfectly fine, especially given the heat and the relative informality of the rest of the wedding party.

Thanks everyone! I am feeling much more calm since discovering this site!
I LOVE the vest look! I hope the Groomsmen do too…

@lrwedd We are doing the exact same thing! I think it’s a great look.
