I thought my jeweler was trying to overcharge me for the diamond I was looking at so I went to the internet to compare prices. And you know what I discovered? If you used the advanced settings to adjust the table and depth percentages to the range of what is considered to be an ideal cut diamond (mind you I was already only looking at excellent/ideal cut) over half of the options disappear. And if you are then crazy enough to sort by polish, symmetry, girdle, culet, and fluorescence… you find out that the jeweler is only asking $100 more for their stone. Which is the cost of… you got it! Secured shipping.
Moral of the story. I’m definitely buying the diamond from my jeweler. Anyone else stumble across this phenomenon while researching diamonds?
