Sooo my best friend has just recently asked me to be the God mother to her beautiful baby boy. I am beyond thrilled, he’s getting baptized in October and I am just curious as a Godmother what should I get as a gift? Should it be monetary? Something he can keep? I really don’t know…any advice is great, thanks!

I got my godson a savings bond, I assume they have something similar in Canada.
They changed it here in the U.S., you can’t get paper bonds anymore you have to get them online and it’s a real PITA because the government apparently can’t design a website that’s even remotely user friendly (vent over).

I wanted to give my godson a savings bond, but got turned off by the difficulty that everyone mentioned! Good job, government.
I bought his outfit for the baptism, gave him a piggy bank and I think some money. They already had all the stuff that he needed from showers, so I figured money was a goo option. His mom and I picked out the outfit together.

We gave our god daughter a beautiful necklace with a cross on it and a “baby” bible. She was 1 1/2 at the time of the baptism.

My SIL is my kids’ godmother. For our daughter, she bought her a silver cross necklace and for our son, she bought him a sliver cross baby bracelet. Oh, and they both got children’s Bibles. I think any religious gifts (crosses, cross jewelry, Bibles, etc…) are pretty traditional godparent gifts.
