Is this normal? I feel like an idiot…but it’s something I can’t stop thinking about since the day after I said yes to the dress…
I always envisioned myself in dropped waist or fit and flare with soft organza or chiffon or silky tulle at the bottom, with sweetheart neckline…
Well I got a slim lined dress instead, and it’s a low trumpet with barely and flare.
I need your help…and PLEASE be honest…
I really am starting to hate this dress on me so much!
This dress is unaltered…so the front would be just touching the ground…and the back and sides would be almost untouched…
What bothers me is that the trumpet will most likely look like the model pic here:
This is not the look I wanted!!!!
I totally got caught in the moment and never tried on dropped waist with flowy bottom besides the two hayley paiges (Bella was a close runner up and it was my dream dress (just didn’t like the hole and flowers)
Martina Liana 411 is a dress I skipped over on the rack, and never gave a chance…but the consultant picked it for me and I said no! Why did I do this! I didn’t notice the dresses potential until I looked at the Martina Liana on the website..
^ love this style…dropped waist and organza
This was the 1st dress I tried on that everyone loved except I did not have a strap, and everyone including me hates the pedals (which can be removed)

Hey, I voted not to change the dress. And do your best to stop looking. BUT you could always see if the bridal salon would be willing/able to let you make an exchange. Then at least you won’t be buying a 2nd dress.

What about a mermaid slip with your dress? It would give it that flare at the bottom you are looking for. My dress issues were solved by a mermaid slip (my dress is actually an a-line but it works perfectly. I absolutely adore your dress!!

I voted to not change your dress – you look fantastic in it, and there is a reason you chose it! There are hundreds of other beautiful dresses out there, adnwe’d all go crazy if we tried to try them all, but there is a reason this is the ONE for you 🙂

I think your dress is gorgeous, and if you do go back, try your dress on with a crinoline underneath to give you more of the flare you want on the bottom 🙂

@bakerella: I agree 100% about the crinoline.
I think you look great in your dress, and I definitely don’t think keeping it would be a mistake. TBH though, I like the style of the other dresses better, and I think you will look good in those too.

I’m worried about the slip/crinoline making it too “stiff” of a mermaid flare. I love the flowy look of an organza mermaid or trumpet, but this Silk Faille material would probably look so stiff with that!
I don’t know! I will def try my dress back on, and maybe I will keep it, but maybe I won’t. I haven’t been looking at other dresses, I just looked at the dresses I had originally tried on or seen. I will NOT look at other gowns/salons or designers that I had not already seen or tried on.
I def know there are others out there and I could always find better…so i’m trying to keep positive, but I also don’t think it’s normal to cry for hours straight the day after you buy your gown when you actually see yourself in pictures.
My dress was considerably less than the other dresses I tired on, and even less than the two I posted here…so If they haven’t ordered it yet I would just pay the difference with no money lost (I may have to forfeit the belt to help me with the price and also if it doesn’t go with the dress I pick).
I guess we’ll see…the shop opens at 12 today, and I already left a long message for them saying how I felt but was really really nice about it and complimented their services.

I love you in your dress and I don’t think you will look like the model at all– she is more of a pear and you are an hourglass. I think if you add a slip and work with the alterations team you can match your vision perfectly.
I also think that if you tried on your dream dresses you would feel better. I think you will see that while they are beautiful, they won’t be so beautiful on you because your shape lends itself to a more fitted dress. I know when I went shopping I ended up with a slim dress because everything else made me look bigger than I was.

Your dress is great. A lot of brides pick something that isnt part of their original vision, myself included. Your feelings are natural. If it would ease your mind to try on more than do it, but honestly, there will always be another dress and you look absolutely fantastic in yours.

I love your dress, it looks great!
And stop looking at dresses! Just like rings, you’ll always find something you like and will question yourself.

I agree with Bakerella! Your dress is gorgeous on you, and I think a crinoline to poof out the flare will appease your feelings!

@BellaDee: Your dress is absolutely gorgeous in its simplicity but boy do I feel you. I am currently on my dress number two since I could not get over my dress regret. I also purchased WAY too soon and exactly two days after i put down money on it I knew i made a mistake…However EVERYONE has dress regret and I do LOVE your gown (HONEST TO GOD I DO). Don’t change it it is a very classic look

I agree with pp, your dress looks fantastic on you! For peace of mind, I would go back and try it on. Try the crinoline slip underneath (I know you said you are worried about it looking stiff, but you never know).
I went through exactly the same thing as you after I bought my dress. I didn’t go back to try it on, I just left it, but as soon as my dress came in and I tried it on in my size I fell in love all over again.
I hope it all works out for you 🙂 Keep us updated.

@aleksandra.bojeva: Thank you! Yes I feel like I didn’;t get the experience I wanted, I didn’t try on all the styles, and the salons I picked, and the price ranges of the salons, do not let you take pics of each gown, only the one you purchase…so it makes it even more tough!
I feel like I bought too soon, and if someone would have spoken up and said you should leave and think about it, I would have agreed and left. I went in thinking I was going to leave without anything and go to another appt sched for this Saturday to make sure I saw everything I had picked out!
But I got overwhelmed, and I was hot and faintish and crying and everyone was crying about my dress, but in pictures it’s not the look I wanted at all!
My wedding is a Summer garden theme, but the ceremony is in a huge Catholic church..this doesn’t fit my vision at all!
