Hey date twin! Here’s my advice:

– Don’t let yourself feel pressured

– Wear comfortable and showable undies (a strapless bra or some nude colored shapewear)

– Be open to trying on different styles especially because it’s the first appointment

– Take pictures (snecretly if you have to)

– trying on dresses is hard work (seriously, some of them are heavy and just a pain to get in to) but above all else try to have fun

Sleep on it!!! Do NOT buy something tomorrow! You will probably find a dress you LOVE, but it’s easier to be objective if you tell the saleslady you will call the next day to put the order in. That gets you out the door, (guilt free, even if they are the  nicest ladies in the world, I still felt guilty for “taking up” her time. It’s ok, it’s their job!)

-Don’t bring an entourage … its the pressure of others opinions that will get you very confused of your own.  I’m a very opinionated person and thought I would have no problem finding what I like regardless of what others said.  I was wrong.  They clouded my opinion!  lol

-Don’t buy anything tomorrow, wait.  You WILL find a dress that you’ll fall in love with, happens all the time.  But, garaunteed, you come back the following day … you’ll find another dress you’ll fall in love with.  That is why you should ….

-Take pictures!!!!  This way you can go back, post it on weddingbee.com, and get all of the bees opinions!  (heheheh)  Seriously, it will help you make a decision.

-And lastly … Try on everything!!!  The dress I ended up picking, originally, was sitting on the rack and I said “no, friggin, way”.  I hated it!!!!  My consultant asked to “appease her and just try it on” and I ended up falling in love with what it did for my body type.  I walked in there NOT wanting a satin dress or a veil; and walked out with a beautiful satin dress and a veil.  ๐Ÿ˜‰  So keep that in mind too!

-Most of all, have fun!!!!!!!

I agree with the PPs, take your time, don’t buy that day, and try on styles you might not have thought of. Some of the most adorable dresses I tried on were some that I let my bridesmaid pick out before she heard any of my likes/dislikes.

Oh, and if you have longer hair, grab a hair tie before you go! I always forget one, but it’s nice to pull it up to see the detailing on the neckline/back. Have a great time!!
