Not to scare you, but the worst dye job I’ve ever had was trying to add lowlights to go from platinum/bleach blond to a more natural-looking dark blonde. If the brown is too cool-toned it comes out really ashy and unflattering. I don’t have any pictures of it because I looked like death and immediately dyed it red.
You could also try to gradually transition to a darker blonde if you stop doing all over color and just highlight your roots to blend them in over time.

I did it once! Theres nothing like being a blonde to me though, but it was fun while it lasted!! Mine was really a liiiight brown though, so it faded pretty quickly & I was able to get back to my normal blonde within a couple months.
Heres my original blonde:

Brown foiled heavily throughout:

@GFerg: Very similar situation to you…born with plantinum blonde that eventually darkened to what is now a dark blonde-light brown naturally. I’ve been bottle blonde for the last 12 years, although a variety of shades of blonde. I did try to go back to my natural color once (no pics though)…it turns out my hair is just really dull without any color and my features are too light for a color darker than my natural, so I went back to blonde highlights. Every once in a while I have a few lowlights put in so that the blonde is more multi-dimensional and the roots are far less obvious between visits.

Thanks for all of the pictures and stories! The last time I was at the salon, I had my lady put 50% lowlights in just to get a feel for it before I do anything major. But honestly, I can’t really tell all that much. I’m just so torn. Something so silly as this should not stress me out so much, but it does!
Maybe if I have her do chunks of the brown instead of blending it (like she did last time I was in), I’ll get a better feel for it.

thats my story exactly!))
went from natural blond to really dark brown for about a year- loved every minute of it! But going back blond was a nightmare…. My poor hair… don’t know if I’ll ever do that again, sticking to blond for a while

I am brunette and getting more grey everyday. I can tell you it is easier to go from blonde to brunette than the other way.

@GFerg: I would go even darker than that.
It’s so funny because my sister is 19 and she keeps me young, I am 30:) She keeps me updated with all the hair styles, etc and she said the funniest thing to me last time I got my hair done.
I have always had light brown hair with highlights, and she said… Sis, No one does highlights anymore, that’s so 90’s…lol
I was like whaaaat? That’s news to me I LOVE highlights! She is a fashionista and said all the girls in high school and college that are up with fashion do solid color hair now, no highlights, she said all the city girls would never do highlights anymore. Mind you she is very opinionated, living in NYC right now and modeling.. So she convinced me to do a solid color hair and I couldn’t be happier. It is very brown, but it looks so elegant and makes my eyes pop. You would look beautiful with solid color hair like Kate Middleton..thats the color I ended up going with. I loved the way highlights made my face look prettier or I thought so, but darker hair is so much more striking (on me) and I feel more sophisticated and classy:)

I used to bleach mine blonde, but i got sick of the upkeep and constantly dry ends, so i am back to my natural red now 🙂
(Edit, And they are huge and the wrong way round doh!)

I did it this past year. I was born blonde, but my natural color is a very light brown now and I got tired of maintaining blonde. Here’s my before and after…
