Hey hey! We are in the same situation, kind of.  I have been getting my hair colored since I was like 14 as well… usually I stuck w/ blonde highlights until about my junior year in college, when I decided to dye it all one shade of dark brown! I loved it b/c it was a nice change, but b/c I had been blonde so long, the brown faded pretty quickly.  However, I get bored with my hair so I change it a lot (more than I should).  After going thru phases of dying it dark, highlighting it, going back to dark, etc.. I realized it was just too damaging for my hair.

You look great in both.. personally I like a little more brown in mine to give it more definition.  I wouldn’t dye it all dark if I were you, unless you plan to keep it dark for a long time, and be prepared for it to fade pretty quickly.  Maybe adding more dark lowlights will help you acheive a darker look without it being all one shade?

Good luck whatever you do and keep us updated w/ pics πŸ™‚  If you want to see some pics, let me know and I’ll show you how mine looked in diff shades!

Well, you have a nice peach skin tone and aren’t too pale, so if you do decide to go brunette you won’t look too pale at least.

I think you look great with your hair the colour it is now as well as with the lowlights, but my advice would be to look at lots of pictures of yourself with the different colours and think about how you felt when you wore your hair in that style/colour. If you felt better about yourself overall one over the other that might be helpful in making your decision.

If you do decide to go all over brunette remember that it is going to be a drastic change that may take a while to get used to & will be difficult to change/remove after the fact.

I always think people look the most beautiful with their natural hair color, so I’m all for going brown!  Also, brown hair would make your eyes look bluer.

Ok this is my “hair color continuum” hahah. Mostly college…Not always the best pictures.

But we have similar skin tones (I think) and I wanted to show you that some colors work better than others. The first two, I had brown lowlights. Then I went this weird shade of red? Not sure why. Then I went totally brown. After that, I went blonde highlights again, and then now FINALLY: I am back to my NATURAL hair color (the last two pics) after a few years of growing it out.

I love my natural hair color now – it has natural blonde high lights. So I’ve been pretty much every shade except black. But I always loved experimenting with it. I’m sure I’ll do this all over again one day.

@Blondee: I liked the brown too! But…I just missed the brightness of being blonde. It’s my natural color after all. And Embarassed I’m much too vain to let them grow out. I went and had my hair dyed as closely as possible to my natural color. I don’t have a pic of that actually. It was my natural color minus the natural highlights basically. I dyed it that color twice, and then just let it grow.

First of all, how cute are you! I really like the blonde, but if you’re dying for a change I think you should go for the brown lowlights (that’s what I voted for). I’m blonde and occasionally get the desire to go red, but I’ve done that a few times before and it’s so hard to get back to blonde (which is what I always want to do…I just don’t feel like myself with any other color hair). I was looking at your wedding date though and saw that it’s not for a while so maybe now would be the time to experiment with your hair and decide what you like the best…maybe I’m changing my answer…

@Blondee:  Well since your natural color is pretty light, it won’t take long at all to get back to blonde, especially b/c you have been coloring it blonde for so long.  My natural is a light brown, so even when I dyed it dark, it was back to blonde in no time.  It will just take awhile to get it really blonde b/c you don’t want to do a ton of highlights at once or it will fry your hair.

I say go for it… or maybe do a semi permanent so that way it fades eventually and won’t be as damaging when you go back to blonde πŸ™‚ Another idea I would consider is, if you do dye it all one color, maybe keep a few highlights of blonde around your face to brighten it up a bit.

When are you planning on dying it?

I think you would look really cute as a brunette.  I think your skin would still look good and not washed out. I however am super pale with really dark hair, so I don’t even think that is too bad!

I would try it – get it done at a salon.  If you don’t like it too much, you can always start putting the blonde highlights in again.  It’s always nice to try a change πŸ™‚

@Blondee:  Def think that’s a good idea.  I know what you mean about feeling more like yourself as a blonde… I feel weird when i’m all dark… its nice for a day or so, but after that I want to be blonde (as least blonde highlights) again! Keep us updated on what you decide to do!
