@totheislnds:  I just started thinking about this over the weekend. So glad you posted this as I can’t wait to see what people have picked out so far!

I don’t have any pictures, but my mum saved my going home outfit and I hope to use the same one for our baby. My parents didn’t know what they were having, so the outfit is gnerder neutral, which is perfect since we’re Team Green. It’s a white romper with a white cardigan and matching bonnet.

ETA: I’m due in April.

I had my first baby in March in Phoenix.  I didn’t think about cold at all.

This baby is due in February in Indiana.  I have no idea how to dress a newborn for cold weather.  Watching this thread to see what people have chosen!

The nurses sent me home in a homemade stocking since I was born the week before Christmas.  Hey, it was the 80’s.  I probably wasn’t in a carseat either.

When we brought home my baby sister we had bought a peach Winnie the Pooh outfit with matching mittens.  The only problem was that she ended up being a big baby and didn’t fit into it.  Frown

For cold weather babies, I would definitely say hat, mittens, and longsleeves with pants just to be safe.  And keep the passing around to a minimum with people who may have a cold or be carrying the flu.  I ended up with pneumonia by Christmas due to everyone being sick and exposing me to their germs.  So I spent my first Christmas in the hospital.

I haven’t quite decided on which outfit I’d like to bring her home in yet but this one is definitely a contender right now. I love giraffes and purple so it’s pretty much perfect:

As far as if it’s cold or nasty out (which is a possibility with a late January due date) we purchased a really warm one piece snow outfit for her to wear. It’s also reversible with a waterproof side just in case it happens to be raining or snowing. I think ours might be a bit different from the one in the picture below as it has a spot on the end of the sleeves that flip over so she has mittens but it looks a lot like this:

I’m trying to find something that will work myself. The problem is that I’m due late november in MN, but who knows what the weather will be like, though I will be surprised if it isn’t snowy and wintery at that point.

@Erika_Meep:  Where is that giraffe outfit from?  I’ve been needing to get more cold weather clothes for my LO and she LOVES giraffes and has since she was about a month old.

I had a July baby.  She was in a dinosaur sleep and play that said “I wasn’t born yesterday” and a hat.  My husband picked it out and loved it and she looked adorable and comfortable.

i thought about this for a while and decided i didn’t care anymore.  fleece pjs under a winter coat will suffice for my boy. as long as he is warm.  plus we are  a 5 minute drive from the hospital!  I will probably decide to pick my favorite pjs from what i have already, but i am not going to give myself one more thing to do at this point and go out shopping for him to wear something for such a brief period of time, lol.  I understand that it is fun to have something cute picked out though.    I do have a friend whose kid is turning one in december and i’ve already started thinking about what my son will wear to his first bday party invite! and probably his first outing as a newborn.

I don’t have any pictures, but my mom bought us the cutest, little sleeper. It has monkey feet and everything. So cute & so warm which is important since it’ll be December.

@mandb122: Target! Here is the link to it on their website. You might want to check your local Targets though (if you have any nearby) since we were able to get it on clearance for under $10 at our local store. 🙂

@Erika_Meep:  Thanks!  My husband was already heading to Target after work for a couple of things so I told him to look for this.  I wish we had waited and known to do her room in giraffes (we have owls) but if this keeps up, she’ll have enough giraffe clothes and toys!
