So I have applied for what feels like a million internships. I had a few interviews and one seemed promising. Well it’s been a while now by which I mean a month. And I’m just confused at this point. The series of events thus far plays out like so:
I had a phone interview where my skill set was evaluated. Apparently that went well because I was then called by the division head to access if I would be a good fit for the team. The next morning I got a call asking for a list of references and my transcripts. I sent those directly to the director of the department the position was with (the gentlemen I had the second interview with). A week passes and they’ve contacted one of my references and asked me to verify some information regarding my transcript and inform me they plan to make a hiring decision within a week. Another week passes. I get a call saying they had to delay their decision due to set back on an upcoming deadline but they were still considering me and would be contacting my remaining to references later that day. The next day run into my references and they tell me they talked to the company and couldn’t imagine me not getting the job (My professors are awesome!). On Tuesday I got an email from HR saying something along the lines of “An offer cannot be completed with the return of the attached forms.” So of course I filled out all of the requested forms, gathered transcripts, etc. and returned them. At which point I resumed waiting. This morning I got a call from HR asking me to confirm some of the information. Which I did. Now back to waiting.
This sounds promising right? I’m trying to study for finals and I’m having some difficulty because I keep swinging from super excited to depressed and agitated due to waiting for a definitive answer.
Also how long does a background check generally take?
