Sorry im not much help but im also in the same situation, 10 years on BC and stopping next year after our wedding. I would love to know some experiences with this. Its pretty scary that I cant remember my cycles before BC so I really dont know what to expect.

I got my period regularly right away, but I broke out like crazy. Hope you skip that side effect! Wishing you and your hubby great success in baby making πŸ™‚

I finished the cycle before I stopped taking it. But that was only bc it was habit.

I didn’t have a period for quite a few months after I stopped but that’s normal. It’s apparently also normal to have periods all the time immediately post taking the pill.

For most people, it takes a good 6 months for your body to normalize. Some folks get really lucky and get pregnant immediately following stopping the pill too! For us, it was a little different bc we knew we had some fertility issues. But for most couples, you can get pregnant within a year of trying. If it takes longer than that, that is when you should see a doctor for advice or help.

mary2015:  My dr and pharmasist told me under no circumstances should I stop mid pack, so I finished it and got the “BCP period” right on time. My first real period came about 30 days later. Since then they have been about 28-31 day cycles. The cramps are something out of this world and acne came back in FULL force about 3 months off of BCP. My boobs got smaller πŸ™ and oh ya the increased CM (I’m not talking a little bit here), which was something I didn’t expect. I also “enjoy” all of the bloating, the lovely twinges and cramps throughout the cycle, which thankfully are no where close to the PMS cramps. Other than that it’s been a ball not having to remember to pop those little pills. Then again I’ve really just replaced it with folic-acid supplement and a multi-vitamin until I get pregnant, in which case I’ll make the switch to a prenatal.

Best of luck! I hope your TTC journey is a short and easy one. πŸ™‚

The first time I went of bc I had been on it for 12 years, I went back to a perfect 28 day cycle. Cramps were worse as we’re emotions, but my sex drive went through the roof.

This time coming off bc, I didn’t get my period for a month, cramps not as bad, not as emotional.

From what I’ve gathered there really is no normal when you come off… some people go right back to regular cycles while others it takes a while for them to come back. I am hopefully near the end of my first month off the pill… on CD25 today. Been on and off mildly crampy pretty much since CD8 and today it felt like actual PMS cramps. Hoping I have a 28-30 day cycle. I did start temping this cycle and it doesnt appear I ovulated. So hopefully next cycle I begin ovulating. But you never know… coming off the pill is a unique experience for everyone!

Unfortunately I had o go off mid cycle because I was getting sick every day due to the Pill (I don’t react well to horomonal BC). I was a little wonky for the first 2 months, but I’m on my 4 or 5th cycle off the pill and I’m pretty on time!

I got off BC in February and my period was pretty regularly right away. I did have some break outs in the beginning but it got better after a couple of months. Now I still get more break outs than when I was on the pill but it runs with the cycle. So I get some break outs once a months but then nothing.

I did have an other pretty awful side effect though… I lost almost all my hair! About two months after I got off the pill I started to shed massive amounts of hair when I showered. Like seriously A LOT! First I didn’t understand what was going on but after some research on google I found out about “Telogen effluvium”. I continued to shed for several months, but one day in the middle of July when I washed my hair I suddenly noticed a difference. The shedding had stopped! And since then my hair is still recovering. No more shedding! *happy dance*

Why I tell you this is that IF you (or anyone else) starts shedding hair after going of the pill, please know that one day it will stop. For me it was a really horrible experience and I had serious thoughts about shaving my head because my hair was so thin. And I also had thoughts about going back on the pill just to stop the shedding. I’m glad I didn’t give in and kept my cool.

By The Way, I got off the pill not because we want a child at the moment but because I had been on the pill for 15 years and I thought it was time to find out how I would feel without those hormones.

Edit: the pill I took (and will NEVER take again) was Yasmin!

I took my last pack in August and got AF as expected. My next cycle was 32 days and terrible. I forgot what cramps felt like. 😩 Also acne like crazy! My cycles were very regular before (3 years ago) at 28 days so hopefully they regulate quick. We start TTC in December!
