Is anyone else out there considering going off BC right after wedding?
I was having dinner with fiance last week and said, “So, when do you think I should go off the pill?” (We are getting married on October 27, 2012 (31 days away!)
He said, “Now.” He was serious. I was thinking he would want to wait a year. Ha!
I think I’m fine with going off of them though. He will be 31 in November and I am 32 (Will be 33 in July). Neither one of us has kids. First marriage for both.
Is anyone else having a hard time with this decision?! haha! We want kids. And we are financially stable, have good jobs, a nice home, etc. But it is SCARY. 🙂 In a fun way.
What are you ladies planning on doing? Going off BC as soon as wedding takes place…waiting?? Just curious.

Hi there! We were married in June and I just stopped BC this month. We might have done it sooner but I wanted to get through the honeymoon (which was the first week of September) without worrying about AF. I know exactly what you mean about it being SCARY but good! I know it’s not likely that we’ll conceive on the first cycle but it is so surreal to stop taking BC after 15 years and know that it’s possible, to know that this huge life change could be just around the corner! I am 31 and Darling Husband will be 39 in Feb, also our first marriage with no kids.

I went off BC a little more than a month before the wedding (Married June 30th). I would have kept taking it until a few months after the wedding, but they stopped making my particular kind and I didn’t want to go through the hormonal mess of adjusting to new BC. We’re not going to be TTC for another year, but I’m glad I’ve given my body time to adjust after having been on BC for a decade. My cycles are still not straightened out and I’ve been charting (using FAM) to see when I ovulate so that we can avoid. It has made me more knowledgeable for when we are TTC.

@birdie724: I went off BC in January 2012, and we were married in March 2012! =) I don’t think there is anything wrong with it – if you’re ready, you’re ready!

I went off the pill the week of our wedding. We are not officially TTC, but we aren’t preventing either. I also started charting right around that time 🙂

I was married 8/4/12 and went off BCP 8/20/12 (wanted to get through my honeymoon AF free)….and we are due 6/3/12. Good luck!

I went off the pill in May, we were married Sept 1st and I got my BFP 27 days later, due June 11th 2013 LOL. We had discussed it thoroughly though and decided to TTC right after the wedding. Neither of us was expecting it to work so fast though. My cycles were messed up from May to August though so I would get off the pill asap if you want to get pregnant pretty soon. It might take your body a while to regulate.
