I was on ortho for 6 years and went off… I broke out everywhere, chest, arms and back is the worst. I just got back on a different BC and I’m hoping my acne will clear up 🙁

My face broke out soooo bad! I’m still dealing with it right now, but I just got off. But overall, I am feeling so much healthier. Actually, birth control always gave me headaches and made me feel, off somehow. Anyway, just be prepared to feel strange for a bit.

Yep, broke out like crazy for me too! I immediately went back on because my skin looked so awful. I am considering going off of it in about a year (TTC), but I’m scared that my skin will go haywire again. It was NOT a pretty sight. Oh, and my period was super late and unpredictable too.

@Imhisbride:

I have always had mild acne on my face but after I went off BC is when I experienced body acne for the first time. I was off for about 1.5 years and the whole time I had acne. Started on my shoulders, then chest, then arms and finally back. Its still all over my back now. I just got on Sprintec a month ago but I really regret going off BC.

Ahhh, this post makes me so scared to go off of it now! When you get pregnant, does skin tend to clear up again??

I feel much better off of it, overall. While my PMS is worse, my moods the rest of the time feel better. Being off of it now, I realize that I felt a little foggy while I was on it, if that makes sense. I’m also… in the mood a lot more now.

The downsides- my face did break out, and was much oilier than I ever remember it being. The breakouts were not awful, just more than I was used to. My skin used to be pretty dry, and now it’s pretty oily and I had to get used to a new skin care regimen, which was weird and annoying, but not a big deal. My periods aren’t as regular, but they haven’t been bad– ranging from 28-34 days roughly. I was worried that they were be very bad– pre-pill I had awful cramps and very heavy and long periods, but now they aren’t much worse than they were on the pill, so I’m very glad about that.

I was hoping I would lose weight when I went off, but I haven’t. I may have gained some, but I couldn’t say whether that was laziness and eating poorly or change in hormones 🙂

I went off to give my body time to regulate before trying for babies and I was on Yaz before that. Of course, having to use some other kind of protection was less fun until we were ready to TTC. I’d figure out what you want to do in terms of that before going off. But overall, I feel a lot better off. Sorry for the novel!

Acne like no one’s business! 🙁 And I did not struggle with it before I started the pill. But, everyone is different.

Periods are a little heavier (though still not bad, I’ve never been a bleeder). I get a couple zits right around PMS time. Usually like 2 or 3. No big deal.

I don’t really notice much difference, tbh.

My skin got super oily and my acne returned. No changes in weight, mood or sex drive. I stopped taking it in April and my periods have, so far, been light and very bearable in terms of cramps.

It took a while for my periods to get back to normal, I also got…ahem….well I was ALWAYS in the mood.
