Hi Bees! Before I started the pill, I had normal cycle periods. I started the pill when I was 18. I am now 22 and am going OFF of the pill (FI and I are not sexually active, we are waiting for our wedding night 🙂 ). Anyways, I’m going off of the pill because I have severely lost my sex drive. Being on it for 4 years now, I am curious as to what will happen? Will I go back to having normal periods like before I went on the pill? I’ve read some stuff online and got myself all freaked out about the possibilities of would could happen haha.

Hello. I’m a bit confused, does your sex drive really matter if you’re not sexually active? Surely it anything it makes waiting easier, less temptations etc.
Anyway, I’ve been off the pill for about 2 years and these are what I have experienced going off it:
– My skin broke out all the time! I had flawless skin prior to the pill (I was on the pill from about 16-25). After stopping the pill, I got acne on my forehead, temples and chin. 2 years later and It’s finally starting to calm down after more exercise, cleaner eating, and mostly washing my face with water only.
– My sex drive did not change.
– I get worse period pain off the pill than off the pill. Sore boobs pre-period and stomach cramps and back pains at the start of my period.
– I’m now a grumpy PMT girl off the pill! But I’ve at least realised that now and acknowledge that’s why I’m grumpy, so I know how to address it now 🙂
Good luck with your choices, be safe 😉

I went off the the pill after four years. My skin broke out like crazy and I didn’t get my period for 5 months. I ended up backing the till to start it back up. I only went off it hoping I didn’t need it for my acne anymore.

When I went off, the one thing that I really noticed the most was that my boobs got REALLY sore. That was the first time I every experienced that. It last maybe 2-3 weeks, then went away.

My prescription expired a couple months back and I was only able to find the time to schedule my annual to get a new one recently. All I can say is THANK THE LORD it was only a couple months that I had to do without it cuz I broke out like a mofo and had awful heavy periods.
I love me my BC pills.

I was off the pill for a good 3 years or so. 15-23 now I’m 26 and back on it. My face only explodes once a month, though I do have alot more little tiny dimple pimples all over my face but not ones that grow big but jus stay under the surface. My sex drive is shite at best being back ON the pill, which makes me sad 🙁 I get really bad back cramps on the pill, yet sore boobies like some PP’s off the pill. My periods were all over the place off the pill, then again, their pretty inconsistent on the pill lol.

I stopped taking BCP about a year and a half ago after being on it for 9-10 years (just started again however). I didn’t break out, and my sex drive did not increase, however, during that time of the month I had a way heavier flow, HORRIBLE cramping, and was super cranky. I also cried a lot. Like all of the time for any heightened emotion. And it didn’t matter what time of the month it was for that fun side-effect.
Good luck with everything!

I went off the pill after 10 years. I had no side effects. My cycles regulated almost immediately.

buzzingbride2b: We are TTC so I went off the pill after my last period in November (I was on it for 7 years). I am due for my period next week – not sure if I will get it or not as I heard it can take some time for your period to come after stopping the pill. I originally went on the pill to regulate my period as it was coming any time it wanted (every 34, 43 or 52 days), I am hoping it will stick to a 28 day cycle. Time will tell. I haven’t experienced any increase in acne or moodiness or anything else. My sex drive has remained the same but I am not sure if all these things will change when my period comes.
