I don’t quite get the difference in cravings from day to day. Is it because I ran last night that all I can do is think about eating? I’ve tried my go to healthy snacks and all I can think about is a giant back of PB cups. Yesterday I was able to follow my diet all day and didn’t splurge, or even have strong cravings, for anything.
I might have to give in today. I do have a 6 mile run planned for tonight, so at least I know I’ll work it off. And I have salad for lunch.

@mrstilly: I’ve noticed that if I’ve worked out and my tastebuds are craving sugar what my body really wants is protein or something with complex carbs to refuel all the glycogen I’ve just burned off. Maybe try a few tablespoons of natural peanut butter (JiFF and Smuckers have TONS of sugar) on whole wheat toast and see how you feel? Or try a banana – gets your sweet tooth but it has lots of good carbs to gas you back up.

I completely understand! I get really bad sugar cravings. I feel like an addict sometimes to be honest. So I’ve done a lot of reading on the subject and one of the articles said that if you are getting cravings sometimes it is because you are actually dehydrated and your brain can’t tell the difference between food cravings and water cravings. Maybe try drinking a glass of water whenever the cravings hit and see if that helps?
The other thing I am trying is training myself to not associate sugar with the cravings. So when I am feeling like I really want candy I go and grab a clementine to eat instead. Its still sweet but only 40 calories and fruit so its a much better snack. I’ve read cravings mostly stem from habit so replacing the habit with a new one is the best way to break free.
Hopefully something like this would help you too! And if not we can always try and help each other stay motivated! 🙂

I gave in today to the pull of the peanut butter cups. But I’m going to stash some PB in my office, so I can have a healthier alternative next time. Likely tomorrow. Lol. Ughl, I know even when I reach my goal weight and am just maintaining, I still can’t eat junk anytime I want, but I am starting to get tired of watching and counting every single calorie.
