I’m sorry you aren’t getting the support you need.  Just remember that it IS a happy and exciting time for you!

As for the fitting, I went to ALL of my fittings alone.  As long as you trust your seamstress and know what you want, it’s totally fine.

Are you having bridesmaids and a maid of honor? because if so you can ask one of them to come along with you.

I’ll be going to all of my fittings alone, and I agree with you, it certainly would be nice to have someone else along. Do you have a friend to bring along and make it a girly-day?

I went by myself.  I like it that way, no muss, no fuss.  Just get it done & move on to the next thing,

I went to all my alone, I prefered it that way (not that I had any other choice!)

My mother passed away wen I was 11, my stepmother & I aren’t close, and FI’s mum lives 6 hours away, although I sent her pictures.

In the grand scheme of things, its only a fitting.. πŸ™‚

I’m sorry you’re feeling alone. My Maid/Matron of Honor lives 4 states away, my Mom is even farther away, my sister and I don’t talk, and my bridesmaids couldn’t go with me. I used to work at a bridal shop and honestly the brides who went alone often came in seemingly upset because they were on their own. However, after being there for a little while (compared to girls who had a few friends or family members with them) were MUCH happier than the girls with people with them. There are too many opinions, too many people saying things that aren’t what the bride wants to hear. I highly suggest that you call a day ahead or so and ask if there will be a consultant available to help you with accessories. Even if you don’t buy anything they’ll have someone fawn over you πŸ˜‰

I really hope things brighten up for you. I’ve not had enough time to focus on the fact that people aren’t as involved in my wedding-life as I wanted or expected. I’ve just got too much going on to think about it. You’ve got the Bee though! πŸ™‚

@eloping:  I would too!  I think I would go with a complete stranger!

I went to all of my fittings alone too.  Sometimes, it would have been nice to have a second opinion (I’m really indecisive), but due to logistics, etc., it just didn’t work out.  At least you won’t have anyone talking you into something you don’t want!!!!  And, like a PP said, you should definately post pics for us to provide input and ooohhh & aaahhh over!

Davids Bridal is holding my dress so it better be there at the end of Jan. when I go for my first fittings. I plan to go alone my whole family and bridesmaids are in NY. I might ask a friend to go and maybe even my FI’s mom but, If I end up going by myself I won’t care. I actually think I would feel more comfortable by myself.

Well, you will get plenty of support from the Bee!  Seriously, I think I talked about my wedding more here than I did IRL!  We’re here for you!
