Well, we’re going to go to the courthouse and make it legal. Afterwards when it’s warm maybe I’ll throw a reception party lol! Anyone else do it like this? I don’t want a church wedding and don’t want to have to spend a fortune. Reception party sounds ideal. Food and drinks with family to celebrate, take pictures, we don’t need to be fancy.

That’s what we did and it was excellent! Courthouse and party at a cocktail for like 60 people a month later 🙂 Good luck!!

We always planned to have an elopement kind of anyways, even though people know it’s happening now lol.

We had a similar arrangement although I admit we got kind of fancy! Ours was for a slightly different reason (needed to speed up the timing of legal marriage due to immigration and couldn’t get it together in time to do a full-on wedding.)
But then we took a few months and planned our reception so that we could celebrate with our loved ones from aound the world. We did have a ceremony officiated by one of our friends and we wrote our own vows which people loved (a few of our friends can still recite bits of them.)
Our courthouse smooch. We went for dinner with both sets of parents and another couple after.
Our reception. We were sort of fancy but our friends and family like a party, plus it was all about our overseas guests (we had a lot) experiencig a true NYC wedding (we hosted drinks the night before in a swanky hotel, had the reception/ceremony in a penthouse, an after party in our massive hotel suite and the next day catered a picnic in Central Park.) We hired a professional photographer to capture the day since it’ll likely be the only time almost all our loved ones were in one place.

It’s supposed to be record cold here next week when we go so I think the short white dress I got will be out lol. I don’t care though I just want to be with him.

Congratulations! 🙂 We’re having a private ceremony just the two of us and will celebrate with friends and family later.
